November 26, 20241 yr So it's been one week since MSFS 2024 was released. The servers are working well enough today - the servers are not perfect, but I haven't read of too many cases of people still stuck on the installation of MSFS 2024 in the past two days. To be fair, I rate the first 2 days of MSFS 2024 as worse than the first 2 days of MSFS 2020 (and thus, I rate the launch of MSFS 2024 as worse than the launch of MSFS 2020). I remember in the first 2 days of MSFS 2020, people waited a long time to download the sim but once they could download it and spawn in, they could at least fly until they CTDed. In the first 2 days of MSFS 2024, even if you somehow managed to download and install the sim, some people then got stuck on trying to spawn in, or they got stuck on the Customize Identity screen. Thus, people didn't even get a chance to experience a CTD mid flight in the first 2 days of MSFS 2024 🤣 However, after one week, I think MSFS 2024 is in better condition than after the first week of MSFS 2020, especially with the servers working much better for MSFS 2024 today. The reason is, it seems people are reporting far fewer CTDs in MSFS 2024 in the past few days, especially CTDs mid flight. Now don't get me wrong, some people are still experiencing CTDs in MSFS 2024 as of today. But I remember in the first week of MSFS 2020, while people were able to download and install the game, it was CTD galore. I encountered some CTDs myself in MSFS 2020 in the first week (actually the first few months) until Asobo started to get a handle on the CTDs. There was also the notorious bug where avionics shut off mid flight. So far in MSFS 2024, I am not having CTD problems like I did in the first week of MSFS 2020 and I haven't encountered a sudden avionics shut down mid flight. And consider that in the first week of MSFS 2020, we really didn't have that many add-ons. Add-ons are typically one of the biggest reasons for MSFS 2020 CTDing. MSFS 2020 was just that unstable and would CTD without add-ons. Compare this to MSFS 2024, where a lot of people are trying to use their add-ons from MSFS 2020, and all things taken together, MSFS 2024 seems to be more stable than MSFS 2020 after one week. There is still a long road for MSFS 2024 to go for Asobo to fix the bugs. And there are a lot of bugs they need to fix. But comparing one week of MSFS 2024, and one week of MSFS 2020, I think we are in a better spot today with MSFS 2024. Edited November 26, 20241 yr by abrams_tank i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM
