Help - I cant change resolution from 4k back to 1920x1080

Featured Replies

I got an big Oled TV as a monitor but was not impressed with the 4k resolution and intend to return it to the store. So I reset the Resolution back to my old monitor 1920x1080 and the Render Scaling to 50 (for a resolution of 1920x1042) and pressed f11 to Apply and Save. Then I reconnected my old monitor, but MSFS loaded in 4k so I can only see a corner of the screen now on my old monitor. I can't change the display options , F11 won't work, and I can't even exit MSFS2020 without using Task Manager.  I reconnected the Oled TV and the 1920x1080 settings were still there. I had switched settings for other Steam games, and they have returned to 1920x1080, no trouble. Only MSFS is giving me problems. Is there some other setting I have missed? Or is there a config text file I can modify? ( I have looked for this but with no success)

You will find the settings in UserCFG.opt file for both 2020 and 2024, use Notepad++ to edit.

File is at \AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache for msfs2020 in my case.
