Ive got a 9800x3d along with a 4080 super.  All settings on Ultra, and I have horrible, blurry, ugly textures. Download speeds are good. Using the latest nvdia driver.  Tested ultra, high, med and low. Makes no difference. What may I be missing? On the positive side, runs fantastic.  Smooth and no stutters. But man, 2020 far superior in the looks department on my computer.  At a loss.  Any suggestions?

Thanks

Could be some good ole' routing issues, like low download speeds in 2020 could be fixed with a VPN, maybe you're suffering with something similar?

Perhaps a few sample screenshots, with specific locations, so people could compare.

Which textures?  Need screenshots.

Ground textures have been nerfed due to LOD issues.  They went a little wild with making things disappear and go blurry at the first distance away from an object.

So ground textures are still kinda blurry once you're just a bit off the ground.

Really?  I see sharp textures out to the distance.  I do see the odd blurred texture in amongst pin sharp textures, but not overall blurry.

SetSpeed. Change the season to early May. It is the season for the Earth to look blurry right now when seen from the sky.

Thanks guys. Will post a screen shot when able. Also, I have been flying only real time. I’ll try a different season. I have mostly been flying in the desert southwest. I’ll try a different region as well.

Compared to the highest res ground textures in 2020 yes.  If I sit in one area they do not get crisper.

Here's a comparison - random rural area just south of KMFR.  TLOD 200.  MSFS 2020:

And 2024 (most notably the area nearest to the plane the bend in the road and the blurrier hill area on the right side of the road)

There would need to be zero blurry textures at all times for me to be interested.

I just checked that area in the sim and it is indeed blurry down there!  Most of the areas I have flown (and posted videos) have been much sharper than south of KMFR.

What are your download speeds?

How does the Grand Canyon look on your system?

Asobo paid particular attention to that area.

You have a competent system, surely it has to be related to your bandwidth.

I have an older system nowhere near yours and the desert southwest looks incredible even on medium and high settings.

I have a 1 gig fiber optic connection, and this stuff loads fast.

I was going to get a refund for the sim but decided to cancel the request and just stick with it.

It will all work out.

The Grand Canyon is a showpiece for the sim and given plenty of attention by Asobo.  it is absolutely not relevant to the rest of the sim.

I have slightly better textures using the map replacement mod.

I’ve spent most time flying in Japan so far and the textures are often lower resolution than latest Bing Maps.

With the new trees, seasons and skies though the overall effect is still fantastic. I have to say, the more I see the effect of the seasons, wow. They’ve done a great job.
