Has Microsoft kneecapped MSFS 2020 to make 2024 look better?

Featured Replies

I loaded 2020 again this morning after being underwhelmed by the many 2024 issues.  Simply tired of the loading time and the control setups in 2024.  Lo and behold, MSFS 2020 is now taking as long to load as 2024.  Almost twice as long as pre-2024 on my system.  Tried several times with a rebooted system to hide any residual software in memory.

Am I along or is Microsoft trying to cover up their poor execution of MSFS 2024?

I have not got MSFS 2024 and dont intent to for a long time yet,but since the lanuch of the new sim my MSFS2020 is running better than ever before, improved FPS and loading times.

I don't think they are. What benefit is there in having 2 "badly performing" sims? People are not going to migrate from FS2020 to FS2024 on the basis of one being as bad as the other!

It's working fine now although the first couple of days post 2024 I noticed LOD had decreased but that's been restored.

Of course not, that'd be monumentally stupid.

Agreed completely.  There is nothing for MS to gain.  That's nonsense.

With that said, I have had more issues with 2020 since the 24 release than in the 2 years prior however I attribute that more to them still tuning the Azure farms, ingress/egress routing, fixing the plumbing, load balancing etc and it may at times impact both sims.

But the whole "they are stealing resources or trying to make 2020 look bad" is nonsense I agree!

Nope. MSFS actually looks better from high above in some cases than MSFS2024 which (apparently) cuts down on objects below maybe to save bandwidth who knows.

Whats with the tinfoil nonsense?  This was an honest question based on my experience.  Nothing else.   God this forum can be so depressing.

Considering that MS2024 loads in about 3 Minutes whereas MSFS with the same amount of scenery and AI models active loads in 15 minutes the answer is a big fat: NO!

well that's a take

5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX  9070XT.

Quick answer - for me no - everything working as expected for 2020
