They have accomplished something never before seen in the history of computing - they built a digital twin of the entire planet in unsurpassed detail.

Funny you mentioned this and I wrote something I do think MS will go to here:

I do think Jörg his idea of a digital world is huge and brilliant.

I don't think it ever will.  For the majority, the digital twin is alive and not a static model.  Change is inevitable.

Sure but, I bought 2024. I'm not going to buy it again for obvious reasons. Are marketplace sales alone enough to not only keep the project afloat, but drive profits? I don't know, but it's a little hard to believe that a low-percent commission on a $20 addon plane is going to move the needle enough when they're undoubtedly paying jaw-dropping electricity bills alone to keep the sim running.

Don't think anyone knows for sure.  The risk will be greatest if Microsoft only had a streaming business model.

There's risk but there are also rewards. eg. Steam and Netflix.

Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space.
Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).
