December 10, 20241 yr With the map enhancement mod, the cache always seems to reset to 16Gb, no matter what custom size I set it to. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

Im a developer and let me tell you.... its not like that. With a proper cache implementation the game doesnt have to go through the cache to see if an asset is in there or not. That's what dictionaries and hash tables are for. Think about a dictionary: If you need to search for the definition of the word "Zoom", you dont open the dictionary beginning at the letter A and go from there. You go straight to the Z letter, skipping aaaaaaall the others, arriving at maybe 1 page from the word you're looking for. It doesnt matter how big is the dictionary. This is a simplistic explanation but hopefully you get the idea. That cache isnt a giant blob of data: Is a data structure organized in a way that allows for extremely fast searches Juan Ramos
December 10, 20241 yr This post on the official MSFS forum covers the topic of rolling cache quite thoroughly, I can only recommend it: RollingCache.ccc performance debugging and tuning … How? - User Support Hub / Install, Performance & Graphics - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums CPU Ryzen 5800X3D RAM 64GB DDR4 3200MHz GPU RTX 5070 Ti (16 GB VRAM) Display 38" LG OS Windows 11
December 10, 20241 yr Anyone got some advice re: the map enhancement mod and rolling cache? In the help file it mentions the following: Quote MSFS2024 doesn't have an option to clear or disable the rolling cache, so if you play with the original maps and then start using this mod, the old data will mix with other satellite images. To solve this problem, "Delete rolling cache when start" MUST be turned on to delete the rolling cache before the game starts. MSFS2024: Make sure setup the rolling cache folder correctly and setup the auto deletion of rolling cache. I couldn't find much more relevant information though. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

Here are some of my thoughts Again I don't think you need to delete the rolling cache file every time if you constantly use ME.
