December 15, 20241 yr Asobo's basic 172 seems to be finally working, but I got this one problem is that barometer is in QNH, and couldn't find a way to switch it to inHg. Anyone happens to know how to make it in inHg setting? Also, is it just me or after the patch the 2024 becomes more unstable? I got multiple CTDs recently. I fly mostly in VR, and felt the performance seems to be degraded too. 9950X3D / 64GB / RTX5090 / Pimax Crystal Light / Win11
December 15, 20241 yr QNH is a reference to the altimeter base line setting, sea level in the case of QNH. The other less commonly baseline altimeter setting is QFE. In this case a reference surface base line other than sea level is set on the altimeter. Most commonly airfield height. This is set by turning the altimeter to read zero while the aircraft is sitting on the airfield surface. inHG, (inches of mercury) and hPa (hectopascals) are units of pressure. HPa units are I understand most commonly used around the world. I think the use of inHg is largely confined to the USA and perhaps Japan.

December 15, 20241 yr How about you guys just answer the question instead of lecturing him about units? To answer the question: One of the line keys of the PFD will have that option. Just look click through them until you find the one for BARO and there you can also set it to STD above transition (although that you probably never have to do in a C172 in the U.S. considering these don't fly up to 18.000 feet.)
December 15, 20241 yr Not sure why you read condescension into my reply Faris. That was not intended. I may have misunderstood but there seemed a mix up in nomenclature which needed to be sorted before the question could be understood and possibly addressed.

The altimeter has only a QNH scale asfaik - does'nt bother me but stil.

Cessna 172 Skyhawk (G1000) and there is more confusion/bugs in the C172 analog altimeter: the scale used to be in inches HG, now millibar. I have never seen that in a real C172 (in the US that is). there is a thread in the official forum about this: "the scale on the card is backwards. Rotating the altimeter knob (clockwise) increases the indicated altitude as it should, but decreases the pressure displayed in the Kollsman window, and vice-versa. Very broken." C172, you can check altimeter inHG with assistance options turned on: the C152 and C208B altimeter show millibar on the left and inHg on the right. the scale turns correctly with the direction of the altimeter knob: Edited December 15, 20241 yr by turbomax AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler. 60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking. very nice.

Dunno. All I know is that in the aircraft "Configuration " menu I can choose a "Basic" configuration with analog instruments. I am quite sure I remember a Hg scale in the altimeter, btw.
