It’s VRAM issues every time. Been having Vram issues too but for some reason tonight, the sim decided to give me smooooooth performance. The short flight I did was absolutely sublime to the point that i'm scared to open the sim again for the bad performance to return lol 5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX 9070XT.

Appears that fuel burn increases in the flight levels at about FL250 and higher instead of continuing to drop! It will decrease up to that FL then start increasing to sometimes 3x the expected burn rate!! Just one of multiple maladies that cause me beginning tomorrow to return for the time being to MSFS 2020. Starting mid-week last week I cannot return to the Main Menu in 2024. For some reason I have to use Task Manager and then reboot my system. I am unable to identify any changes to my MSFS 2024 that might be responsible. I 100% removed 2024 and started over, to no avail. Real sad as I had a 30 day period without the issue. Yep, I had other issues but was able to avoid them and fly other models with other avionics. Then it came tumbling down. Between this past Thursday night and late Saturday night I spent countless hours attempting to resolve the issue(s) without success. Lost a great deal of possible flight hours. I am a serious flight simulation hobbyist and fly a predetermined schedule. Unable to do so, beginning the day after Christmas, I for the time being return to MSFS 2020, which after more than three years of struggle has finally gotten dialed in. Glad I upgraded with a new system for 2024, 2020 just "sings" with the new system. At flight levels mostly above 320, and mostly 3rd party addon airports, I believe i am not missing much. Too concentrated on initial and final approach to absorb myself in better eye candy. I am a serious flying enthusiast, not a sight-seer. I will wait this out, as I did with 2020. You guys go for it! Taking a cue from my business career, "I just want to fly". msfs 2024 has become no fun for me. And I cannot fly! Sorry for the non-capital letters in msfs. But others should be ashamed. I've been having a lot more CTD and weird issues like a tree in between taxiways at KCLT. I remain bullish on FS24, but there is some weird memory issue going on. I hear any patch 1.2.9 or higher (we are on 1.2.8) will have a fix for the main menu bug. I enjoy a good bit of troubleshooting from my sys admin days, but I think of Philip Marlow as I once again go up the Amazon again if I launch 24. Edit: for those who enjoy usage stats there are 156 FS24 flights on Volanta vs 1056 FS2020 Edited December 25, 20241 yr by BrammyH

I had a situation like that once and that was how I found out setting the time to anything but live used historical weather so it may not line up with real METARs or BATC if it’s too far off. It was still dark in Cardiff when I did the flight (I live in a time zone that’s +2 GMT) so I wound the time back to yesterday lunchtime. However the weather was set to ‘live’ but as you say it didn’t appear to be. I was surprised as one thing 2024 is very good at is highly accurate weather and I was quite excited to try an approach that would by the METAR be very much ‘seat of the pants’.
December 25, 20241 yr I said before Day 1 that it would be at least 6 months before I even considered MS2024, if even then considering all the problems, I learned from experience with FSX and 2020. Jay
December 25, 20241 yr How long is the poll going to stay open? I imagine if open long enough it will start to trend MS2024 way in 6 to 12 months. 😂 Eric

December 25, 20241 yr I am really trying to like FS2024 and since I paid for it I really just want to move on into the new platform. However I am having a really hard time doing so. Occasionally it runs great and without issue minus a few minor annoyances. Other times its a complete and utter disaster and the bugs are inconstant. Earlier today I had planned a nice Christmas Eve flight from SFO to OGG in the default A321 Neo in United colors. First time I took off the darn AP failed to work. It would turn on but was not doing anything and no indication that it was doing anything. I turned off FS2024 and relaunched it. This time the AP was working but about 1 hour into the flight it just randomly rolled over and proceeded to crash into the the ocean. I do truly think it will eventually get there especially when higher quality payware planes come out for it. I think a lot of the bugs are just the lousy default aircraft. However I am really wondering just how long it will really take and just what sort of damage will happen to our hobby? I think overall our hobby is strong enough to survive this but it will definitely slow progress! Tomorrow on Christmas Day I am planning a shorter flight SEA-SLC but debating doing it in FS2020 or FS2024? I did update my Fenix A320 in FS2024 and did a quick circuit around SEA. It was flawless and performance was spot on. So again I am thinking part of the problem is the default aircraft.
December 25, 20241 yr I dont have FS24, staying with FS20. I was very keen on jumping to the new game but after seeing all the issues and clunkyness of it all made me cancel those plans. Huge shout out to the early adopters because it is thanks to their feedback that the rest of us can sit back and make a decision. Whats also making it hard for me is that my FS20 is running so smooth, purring away. I have it optimized exactly how I want. Will see how it goes, keeping tabs on the updates, patches and feedback from gamers on YouTube etc.

I just hope they turn around before then.😣 Would love 2024 to shine in VR and other areas (AI traffic, ATC, etc).🤞 Edited December 25, 20241 yr by Dillon FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR

December 25, 20241 yr I installed FS24 about a week after its release and am really enjoying it. I fly the Fenix with default airports so not many add ons. I have had one CTD in that time and 90% of the time it is smooth so FS20 is now uninstalled . Settings are all on High, not ultra. Processor 10700k and RTX 3090 with 24g mem, 100mb connection. I am confident the bugs will iron out in the next 6 months as we saw with the release of FS20
December 25, 20241 yr Monday and Tuesday I had 2 CTDs while flying in FS24, and one successful flight. I've started keeping a few notes of what is happening when I CTD.For now, I am excluding a CTD on launch or clicking ready to fly. That is truly a sim thing, and frankly can also occur in FS20. For specs: Ryzen7 5800XT, 32g of RAM 3060ti. Monday's failed flight: I was on Vatsim as well as running FSUIPC and my VA's ACARS (Pegasus). I was in the Fenix. I CTD right after take off. Monday's successful flight: Offline with BATC and no FSUIPC and ACARS. In the RJ Tuesday's failed flight: Offline, BATC but running running FSUIPC and my VA's ACARS (Pegasus). I was in the Fenix. I CTD on the ground while panning to take a screenword not allowed. However, I have also logged two successful VA flights in the Fenix since Friday's patch. I don't have notes before Monday's CTDs. My flight log book only logs successful flights. But I have noticed while the problems to do not occur 100% of the time when running FSUIPC and Pegasus, a large amount of the problems I have are when I am running the two programs. Easy Jet Sim Pilot had two FS24 CTDs on stream before switching to 2020. Tomorrow CptCanada is in the Fenix and FS24 and I am curious how that is going to go. In his case, he runs a separate PC to handle the stream stuff. My guess is FS24 and its memory issues are excaberated by also running a bunch of connections and other software. On a normal flight, not even a VA flight, I have Volanta, BATC, SPAD, Mobiflght, Charts, and AxisandOhs. These are largely fine with FS24, but adding in FSUIPC and Pegasus seems to push things over the edge. In terms of usage, small sample sets are small, but amongst my casual group and some VA Discord the FS24-only folks are in the fast miniority. There are indeed more people who have given up on FS24 and a middle ground who always used 2020 for an airframe not in 24. FA24 kinda is "the Airbus Sim". That said, the last patch did help. I don't get the blazing lights in the Fenix after the patch.
