December 23, 20241 yr Maybe I’m one of the few (please don’t tar and feather me), but since the last patch I’m having an incredible experience in 2024, with the best performance I’ve ever had in either 2020 or 2024. Traffic is through BATC with FSLTL and AIG models, and I’m getting high FPS and smooth performance even in Fenix aircraft at some of the most demanding airports (recently Aerosoft EDDF, FlyTampa CYYZ, and the Washington area flying out of DD KDCA). I’m now eagerly awaiting the remainder of my payware aircraft to make their way to 2024 and pinching myself that this performance is here to stay. December 24, 20241 yr Similar to Dave/regis9 -- I just had...as Obi-Wan Kenobi would say..."another happy landing" I flew a 2 hour flight in the Flysimware C414 using the TDS GTNXi Pro and it was good. Well, it wasn't flawless, I made a few mistakes here and there, but the sim performed very well. Mods installed so far: FSW C414, Bijan biome mod, TDS GTNXi Pro / Navigraph I keep waiting for it to lock up or CTD or go bonkers, but it has not done that yet. December 24, 20241 yr I kinda lost all motivation to play after switching to 2024. Trying to figure out what planes and airports work is tedious. Performance is way worse despite me upgrading my machine.

I have to say - having got up and running with the AutoFPS app, BATC+FSLTL, Fenix and some nice payware airports - I'm also having a decent time of it. The first few days were an absolute dumpster fire but now I can do a decent point to point flight it's all working really well. I don't bother with career mode or the default aircraft and I've finally managed somehow to get the controls working satisfactorily. I ran into a couple of oddities in that the weather was weird at Cardiff. Vis was reported as 200m and overcast at 300 feet so technically below minima but BATC doesn't have the option to divert so I just ran with it and in the end I was visual with the runway from 10 miles out. Lighting in the cockpit doesn't seem to work too well yet, with everything seeming to be very dim. I am also still very annoyed by the mouse freelook acceleration bug that makes panning overly sensitive. All in all though, there is a lot to like about the visuals - especially the clouds.
December 24, 20241 yr I pre-ordered 2024, and after a couple of days after launch requested and received a refund. I'm still using 2020 and I intend to go back to 2024 at some point in the future after they have managed to sort the issues I had with it. The reason I requested a refund was in the hope that if enough people did that, it may spur them on to expedite the process of updates and bug fixes. I was a beta tester for 2020, and although I've a few issues over my time with it, overall it was a pretty positive experience, no CTD's, and only minimal stutters after an update that later got resolved. After all that experience MSFS/Asobo had developing 2020 I was really looking forward to what 2024 would bring, hopefully I'll be able to revisit 2024 soon.

Were you using live time? I had a situation like that once and that was how I found out setting the time to anything but live used historical weather so it may not line up with real METARs or BATC if it’s too far off. December 24, 20241 yr I pre-ordered Pemium Delux FS24 on Steam, but after the troubled launch, I got a refund. My reasoning was that since it would take a few months to sort out the bugs, I had better uses for the money in the run up to Christmas. I'm confident that MS/Asobo will get things fixed, but for the moment, the money is better spent elsewhere. That said, I'm reading an increasing number of good reports - maybe I'll buy it sooner than I intended. Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting. https://rationalwiki.org

Try it out with Gamepass - either you'll have a one month trial for $1, or else if you've already used that, you pay ~$15/20 for a month and get access. Then you don't need to go through the rigmarole of refunding if you find that you still don't like it. 9800X3d, 4090, 64 GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 4 TB NVME (2x2), 4K Ultra + Framegen
December 24, 20241 yr Just finished a 14.5 hour flight (real time) in the ini A332 in 2024. Smooth as butter. Only issue was fuel. Simbrief said I'd be fine, but I had to top up with the EFB about 2 hours before landing, the MCDU said I'd be 4 tons under. Edited December 24, 20241 yr by Tuskin38

Appears that fuel burn increases in the flight levels at about FL250 and higher instead of continuing to drop! It will decrease up to that FL then start increasing to sometimes 3x the expected burn rate!!

December 24, 20241 yr It’s crazy to me that the variances in experiences. I have not had a single flight where I can say “Wow, that’s smooth” in 24. It’s VRAM issues every time. Follow me on : Instagram See my Trailer: A Year Of Flight
