Best VFR "low and slow" aircraft for sightseeing

Featured Replies

I have been using a C172 to fly around but I am wondering what other fairly easy to fly aircraft are particularly good for flying around specifically to take in the landscape as opposed to getting from point a to point b the most efficient way.

Thanks

I use the Xcub a lot for VFR. Only a little slower, but great outside view.

Recommend the Xcub too.. the ability to land in all sorts of terrain and really soak in the new ground terrain visuals along with new ground handling physics makes it a great VFR aircraft.

And I actually have helicopter hardware controls. Thanks for the suggestion.

Always looking for opinions as well 🙂

Yup or the Optica.

The Optica is great for this if you don’t want to learn helicopters.

The Fenix 319 is not bad for sightseeing - flaps full and speed 140 🙃

…except the Joby S4 electric aircraft.

It’ll do everything a helicopter can do and accelerate up to 160kts, and it’s FBW system makes it much much easier and more fun to fly than a helicopter.

and, of course, the slowest of them all... the Hot Air Baloon.

In v2024? The Default Optica by Got Friends or the default R66 by Carenado.

In v2020?

Probably the Default Guimbal Cabri, or the C172 with its high wing not obstructing the view.

Me personally? I like low and FAST, so I'd go for something like the CJ4, the JF Hawk, FA-18, or F-16 (incomparable view!).

All depends on your desire for fidelity, tho.
