Hot air balloon. Or hot air balloon with an electric engine.

The sound doesn't work for me on the RV-8 in MSFS2024 unfortunately.

I added the Got Friends Doubler Ender to 2024 yesterday and was pleased to find it works perfectly. Perfect for low and slow.

The Fenix 319 is not bad for sightseeing - flaps full and speed 140 🙃

PMDG Boeing 737-600 (no passengers or cargo, two thirds fuel, full flaps and speed 128 knots)

My choice (with FS2020) was the Robin DR400. I could trim it perfectly to make scenery gazing easy. And the visibility in turns is better with a low wing aircraft.

Ants drifter you don't get much slower than this.

In reality, for "low and slow" flying, to this day nothing has ever been built that beats the airplane that invented it - the J-3 Cub.

Personally, I find this holds true in the sim.  The CAS J-3 Cub (but make sure it's the CAS, you do not want the "other" J-3) has been my go-to for this flying since I discovered it.  Like a real J-3, it has a hard-to-define quality that just puts a smile on your face.  Sightseeing with the door open... Just buzzing around a grass strip doing touch and gos, a slipping turn to a 3 point that just whispers into the grass... Ahh, good stuff!  The CAS plane is so well done, all these fun little touches in addition to a stellar flight model and a beautiful aircraft.  I mean it's really polished.

Anyway, that's my plug 😉 (no, I'm not associated with it, just a Cub lover.).  Note that I don't believe it's compatible with 2024 yet; I didn't see a tag so wasn't sure which sim you meant.

In VR.

Standing up and looking around as if one were really in the basket.

Only downside: Those things fly at walking speed, so won't cover much distance.

CowanSim R66 (with R66 Sound Immersion NG) and CAS Piper Cub. Both are a joy to fly and extremely immersive.

Try launching in a gale 🙂

Best VFR sightseeing - it has to be C152, Around 90-95 kts average cruise speed it is not too fast but not too slow either. Along with high wing configuration - gives maximum visibility outside.

This is the beauty of an airliner for sightseeing. The visibility is not obscured by the wing at all (high or low)

I like the  Norden.  It's quite touchy on the rudder but it's a nice plane overall.  If you hold your flaps down button you can get an extra notch of flaps for those really short fields.
