Wrong Graphics card shown in FSX.CFG

Ok...I just started playing with my fsx.cfg file today and have been able to gain about 5fps so far. In the process I noticed that the graphics card shown is my old card (I bought and installed a new one last week). Should this be changed and how do I do it? Will I notice an improvement in performance if this is corrected? I am running dual monitors so this error appears twiceThanks!

I think you have to delete the fsx.cfg file and let it create a new onenext time you start Fsx. Backup up the prev. one, and make all the changes again after fsx creates the new cfg file.Helmut

I tried that and a new file was not created. I then copied my back up file so I would have a cfg file. It may be important to not that the dxdiag file also has info from my old video card...Any other ideas?

FSX has to create a new config file if you deleate the old one. try renaming it instead and see if a new one appears after restarting FSX. Also, what video card is listed in your device manager? And make sure you are working with the correct config. The one that opens with notepad, not the text doc. I don't recall if you will see any difference with the correct card listed...could be wrong, though.Bob

SimfomaniacFSX will record each video card and driver that you install, in the FSX.cfg file. This is the one to edit: C:Documents and SettingsUserNameApplication DataMicrosoftFSX.Scroll down the FSX.cfg and you will find the new card particularly if you set it up correctly in FSX settings. Just delete any reference to the old card from the FSX.cfg and remember this will happen every time you install a new driver as well. I just delete the old references no need to rebuild the fsx.cfg file.Peter Hayes:)
