...since advent of FS2024.  On most days it would crash to the desktop after clicking FLY, then load properly and fly with no issues.

In the last couple of days it is getting worse.  Yesterday about 6 CTDs in a row before I was able to fly.  This morning I ran about 6 attempts and then gave up.

Later today, on a whim, I switched to DX12, restarted and it loaded up and flew with no issues.  It will be interesting to see if that continues tomorrow or whether it was just a fluke.

I have zero CTD since first patch. What are your specs? Also do you run vanilla 2024 or have add ons in community folder?

P.S. Here is what I have i9-13900KF, 64G RAM, RTX 4090 . I'm running 2024 on Ultra, DLSS Super Resolution on Auto

I don't have 2024 yet - this is 2020 and this issue started the day 2024 was released.

Spec-wise I'm i9-14900KF, 32.0 GB RAM, RTX 2060 and I hadn't begun to push beyond High for most settings.  I get a steady 60FPS in about all environments with no stutters and everything looks and performs great.

The issue is 2020 is crashing when attempting to start flights - if I make it to the tarmac it usually runs fine.

Did you have technical alpha installed before? If not, I don't see how  2024  could be related.

Sounds like an addon problem to me.  Do you crash with a clean community folder - vanilla sim?

It's annoying, I fully understand. Been there like many many times. We've all been there. However we need to be sensible and avoiding a false correlation. In fact, my MSFS 2020 has been smoother than ever, probably not because of the release of 2024 (no solid evidence of the new sim release affects the former), but my switching from DX12 and DX 11, and HAGS may be the culprit.

Try this thread. Hope you'll resolve the issue in no time.

About the time 2024 came out I had a mandatory windows update forced on me which gives me a complete system crash every other day. Sometimes when loading 2020 but the sim itself I don't believe is at fault.

Same here, I haven't had an issue like this for well over a year or two. Whenever I have issues its because of a third party livery, in fact, any oddities I had with cockpits freezing, CTD, FMC bugs etc were all livery related. The sim itself has been stable for years to be fair, at least on my end and I'm not running the latest and greatest super computer.

I mention 2024 as that is the day it began crashing.  I wasn't the only one - a number of others (including some here on AVSIM) reported this same issue.  The sim loads, then crashes when we click FLY.  Also, our events reports were almost identical, indicating CoherentGTJS.dll as the faulting module about 99.99% of the time.

Up until a couple of days ago this only happened the first time I started 2020, then it would fly properly on the next start.  Now it crashes continuously so I thought I's share to see if others that had this issue had resolved it.

No relation to addons.  I removed them immediately the first time this happened.

The crashes occur whether I have liveries added or not.  Back a few Updates ago I was forced to throw out some liveries when they caused issues.  The few that remain have caused no problems and I made sure by removing all addons in one test.

The only other liveries I've used lately were from the in-sim store.  I suppose I could unload that set and see if anything changes...

It could be caused by unstable ram! I had this very problem for the first week of FS2024. I had added an additional 32GB of ram to my PC a month earlier. It was the exact same brand and model number but not a factory matched set. On the outside everthing looked fine. But FS2024 didnt like it one bit. As soon as I removed the extra ram the crashing stopped. Infact FS2024 has not crashed once since. Im now back at 64GB but with a matched set.
