Hi all,

I have a i7 14700k, 64gb DDR 5.  My 3090 is the oldest component and I’d like to see some new/improved visuals offered apparently by the 4xxx cards and up.

Should I consider a 4070ti super or a 4080 super (still some new ones available before stocks dry up).

I’m scared that I’d see a reduction in VRAM which seems counterproductive.   I only use the machine for MSFS.

I know I could get a used 4090 on eBay etc but I’m not really fancying spending £1500+ on a used GPU to find it goes pop a few months later.   Albeit the 50xx series will likely be bank breaking?!

Ultimately I don’t want to over-buy a GPU to upgrade, and also don’t want to miss the opportunity for a new 40xx card before they all sell.

Thanks.
Ian.

Are you GPU limited with your 3090 at your preferred graphics settings? if not keep it.

Yes sometimes. Not so bad in 20 but 24 seems to hammer my 3090 and I’d like to experience it with ultra clouds etc.  might just sit tight and see what the 5080 offers…

I'm still Limited by Main CPU Thread on a 2080 Super w 8gb VRAM so I'd doubt you'd see much improvement in FPS!

A CPU Upgrade would be best!

Anyone paying £1,500 for used 4090 needs their bumps felt. with the new 50 series releasing.

Well yes. My only notes on the new ones is that VRAM is low until you get the big one which is likely overkill for my setup (and I’m not looking to upgrade my CPU etc yet!).  I wonder if down the line they do a “super” or ti with 24gb.   Unless the way they work means we can be safe to get one of the ones with lower VRAM of course.
