January 22, 20251 yr I don’t use P3D but I’ll see if I can replicate it on a non HDR monitor using Xplane or msfs at some point this week.
January 22, 20251 yr I've given up on Lossless for now. the freezing now is constant. Old settings new settings. Closed apps. Open apps. Tonight going back to DX11 to give it one more try, but that is most likely useless. Its to bad cause the smoothness you get is unbelievable. Ron MSFS 2024 -Too many airplanes to name. January 22, 20251 yr I just played around with the custom resolutions, and I was really surprised by the x5. It's not a resolution I would recommend, as it has quite a few artifacts, but the result it offers, being an x5!, seems amazing to me. My intention was to try capping the frames at 24 to apply the x5 to match the 120Hz frequency. As I said, it's not something I would recommend; it has a lot of lag/ghosting, but it's still impressive what a little app costing €7 can achieve. Finally, I’m going to stick with 27fps + G-Sync through the NVIDIA control panel, x4 in lossless with a scaling type of LS1 at 75% (and the performance option enabled) and 120Hz on the monitor. And V-Sync is disabled both in the simulator, in the NVIDIA panel, and in lossless. Although I’m left wondering if the difference between the 108 FPS (27x4) and the 120Hz of the monitor will be significant and could cause some desynchronization that leads to stuttering 🤔

That’s the whole point of g-sync, it synchronises it. Also, is 27 Frames locked the best you can achieve? 38X3 would be better. 38 locked with RTSS if achievable would have good frame pacing, and mean you only need x3 frame gen, reducing artefacts. January 22, 20251 yr I've tried but sadly my 2nd hand 3070 can't achieved it consistently. It was used for mining and I have to limit the power to 75% using afterburner to keep temp and hotspots under control (right now 75 and 99ºC). And everything, after changing the paste and pads. It was much worse before.
January 23, 20251 yr Well, only 2 flights in, but it would seem the freezing is due to Dx12. Not sure why, but there it is. Will have to keep testing. The smoother then without Lossless scaling and DX12. Ron MSFS 2024 -Too many airplanes to name. Too many airports to name.

The smoother then without Lossless scaling and DX12. Is your "smoother then without Lossless scaling and DX12" in MSFS2020? If so you are doing something wrong because it's possible to make Lossless/DX11 give response times that rarely vary by more than 1/10 of a msec. - the definition of smooth at any fps. I'm running Lossless 4X/DX11 at fixed 19 fps on a decidedly substandard system and get absolutely rock-solid 76 fps and a no frametime variation...UNLESS my system is overwhelmed by large complex airports usually with too much PSXT AI traffic. My frametimes run steadily flipping between 52.6 and 52.7 msec (19 fps steady = 52.63 msec\4 = 13.15 msec = 76 fps). It really is breathtaking to see what that looks like on a monitor especially considering my less than ideal hardware spec. i7-6700k • Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 • 32GB DDR4 2666 • EVGA FTW ULTRA RTX3080 12GB

January 23, 20251 yr I am stuck between VRR flickers OR screen tearing, with LLS or any other method. Any advice would be appreciated. Also, is your G-Sync engaged? Frequently may be a relative term, but enough that I think its the underlying issue especially if trying to use LLS. For example if I disable VRR, remove LLS from the loop and cap at 115 FPS in NVCP I can see the sim taking a hit to frames (drops to 50-60 with heavy camera movement) on a semi-frequent basis, but not frametime which stays <10ms. Drivers for the hardware are all up to date. The hardware itself is not under stress, ~40-50% CPU and ~<65% GPU usage sustained average. G-Sync is on in NVCP. Game Optimizer in the LG settings bundles VRR and G-Sync on the same toggle.
