Seems like they near instantly sold out, but was wondering if anyone here managed to grab one?

I'm not going to torture myself by checking stores for a while I think...hopefully these will become reasonable to get your hands on quicker than the 4090's did.

There are reports that at least in one store in Germany the video cards were sold via leaked links before the official launch time, so normal users didn't have a chance to get one.

I managed to pre order one from Scan. Number 66 in the pre ordered queue, how quickly I'll get my GPU. Who knows?

They are now not taking anymore pre orders.

Similar to feeling burned by FS2024, I find it appalling how nVidia and said companies treat their customers nowadays.

Agree completely…I was willing to give them a pass on the 4090 being ridiculously hard to get for a very long time given supply chain issues coming out of the pandemic, but come on, there’s no excuse now for your flagship card to be completely unavailable after release.  Do they like making money?  Maybe after their stock took a hammering last week they’ll be more interested in making money and actually having their products available for sale?

They very much enjoy making money. You seem to be under the mistaken impression that their GPU business is their largest money maker. It is one tenth the size of their data center line of business.

Why sell a 5090 when you can sell an AI accelerator for ten times the price?

OK, do they like making money off consumer GPUs?  Why create a 5090, with all the cost etc that goes into that if it's not going to be readily available?

Compared to data center, not really. I don't think they want to abandon the line altogether, but why would they sell a part for $1000 when they could sell the same part for $10,000?

I asked Grok what I could expect upgrading my system with an RTX 5090 but using only TAA and not DLSS FG. I was shocked to see that I could still see FPS as low as 35fps in some instances. I'm on a RTX 3090 and I've moved on to VR so I will get one. I'm keeping a close eye on Best Buy and If I'm lucky and get one in the chamber I've already decided to pull the trigger.
