I worked with this all eariler today, including the Change BloomAllowOversaturation=0That is why I posted there is no difference between setting the gamma/brighness and contrast on the monitor and working with this mod. Without the bloom oversaturation there is no differenceWith Mod: 21FPShttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/187874.jpgWithout Mod; Adjust montior driver settings UP: 30+ FPShttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/187875.jpgNormal: No mod or monitor changes 30+ FPShttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/187876.jpgI understand how to work with the ini file.. its simply not worth the change and the hit on my system :)EDIT:This is with the bloom exposue enabled/disabled.. the name of the weather theme is building storms. The clouds and ground should have gray in it, not well lit haze18FPShttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/187877.jpg30FPShttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/187878.jpgThere is too much light in the dark cloud areas for the weather being displayed in image #1. Even lightning is way too overexposed. I can see that for a sunny day and little or no cloud cover but since I lose 10 frames and must togle it manually, and, I can add the correct haze layer which will create the same 'white' level lighting effect during sunny days (except for the overexposed aircraft as shown above) I see no practical use.I do see the horizon glow which is better rendered in the bloom image howeve the rest is out of whack and does not complement the image for reality.. and eats major frame resourcesAll the images above will look different on different monitors so posting them here only provides limited demonstration results.Unfortunately the 10+ frame hit is just not worth the changes. I may keep it around to play with it more later but right now, it has no value for my system. :)

Well I only see a 4-6FPS hit, which is ok for default and non complex aircraft, but would really hurt with LDS and PMDG aircraft, where you need all you can get!! I do agree with you Nick, that this may just be a Placebo effect. It seems like it's only brightening the image, not really a bloom effect. There is no noticeable affect on lighting on the Sun, or Runway lights, like we see with FSX Bloom option selected. Just a general brightening of the whole scene! Still not bad, considering you can switch it on or off with a keystroke. The real show stopper for me though, is it doesn't play nice with my GameCam Video capture software, which is a must for me, as I like to make those youtube videos :) Fraps still works, but is more of a resource hog!! So it comes off my system!!

Thanks

Personally I don't think it's a big deal to hit a key stroke when the effect is unwanted. I suppose it's really more of a limitation of fsx in that it does not have cloud shadows. Because even in storms there can be uncovered areas which are quite bright since the sun doesn't just take off. Basically, what I want to stress is this dll plugin has promise and may please some people as it stands. It was designed for GTA initially but that does not mean it or things like it could not be more specifically adapted to fsx or fs9. Also, as i said in the fs2004 forum thread, 8xs is really a luxury (which we have gotten used to because fs is primarily cpu bound), even a more conservative 4xs which I find works well with this plugin. So I don't think it's fair to say the plugin hits performance hard when you have 8xs enabled. Try enabling even 4xs with a game like oblivion (god forbid crysis) and you'll see what I mean. Supersampling sucks up resources. It's a trade off, no doubt about that, but some might prefer bloom to extra supersampling. Finally, it is this kind of blue haziness that I think this plugin can achieve quite well:http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...rial-redux2.JPGhttp://www.riverbills.com/pic_of_the_day/0...lton_aerial.JPG

Do you get a performance hit while using accelerations bloom also? Generally this always comes with a performance hit. I have tried this hdr patch in rFactor and got a massive performance hit expect the same in FSX.

As for haze layers, if you use the weather engine right or a payware weather engine like ASX the haze layer can be correctly depicted and it will respond to the light of day and cloud cover realistically in FSX. My problem with this mod around heavy weather, besides the performance smack, is that it overexposes everything too far. If there was a way to target the lighting changes it would go a long way in use.I wont drop my AA to 4x. @ 1920x1200 I can see the difference between 4xS and 8xS, especially with shimmersPhotos/video also tend to react to light and will 'bloom' depending on shutter speed and fstop settings where the human eye may not see as much of that bloom. The experience of the person behind the camera will play into how realistic (or ARTISTIC) an image is with respect to light and bloom.Also.. photoscenery does not respond correctly/dynamically to light in the sim like normal textures so something like this can accentuate it and give it another level of realism.Don

Yes, they are.but they are still very much a work in progess and I still need to run them through full processing for photo filter changes with respect to geographic location so they are not finals. I do not perform that filtering process until all the textures are complete and they can be verified as a set. I was not posting them to show GEXn EU.. Those are just a few rurals and happend to be what was running when I used the bloom mod for a compare of the mod performance/visual differences. I have my head in so many textures/flights right now I did not think about the location of the mod shots.
