New Community Site . . .

Recommended Posts

Hi All,For those of you who don't already know about it, about three weeks ago I opened a new site athttp://www.fs-fbo.comOver the past few weeks I've been mulling something new that I could do to branch out a bit, to provide some sort of new service to benefit all simmers, to foster expansion of the hobby, and facilitate communication and contact throughout the greater simming community. At the same time my kids have inadvertently introduced me to the world of social networking due to my oversight and their avid participation with their peers at Myspace.com, probably the most popular of the various social networking sites. And I thought, why not a "Myspace" for simmers? These two developments have now converged in this new web site I have launched. It's a place where you can have your own page, write a blog, upload pictures, videos, chat, participate in the forum, and develop a network of friends and contacts who all share a common interest--flight simulation. It is intended to be as much as possible completely separate and distinct from my FSGenesis operations, so it is not a replacement for the FSG site/store, which will remain and, I hope, continue to grow. The FSGenesis business support and customer service will remain at FSG. fs-fbo will remain an objective, separate entity open to all and moderation will not be heavy-handed, except for obvious common-sense civility. Obviously, no porn or vulgarity, no overt spam, certain mild-profanity will be allowed if you must, but nothing that would violate the sensibilities of the majority of "normal" people. The basic structures are in place, and enhancements will be added along the way. The site will remain in beta until all the kinks are worked and everything is operating smoothly, so expect the occasional glitch now and then. But I want to invite everyone to go over there, register (if you've not already done so), set up a profile, have a look around, put up a picture, upload some video, write a blog (a great place to write reviews, express opinions, or simply vent about something), search for and add some old and new friends and contacts, and generally share and participate in a community that I hope will grow very large. These sorts of communities obviously become more useful and vibrant when they reach a critical mass--and the more the merrier! So don't hesitate--go over there right now and give it a go. We've grown to nearly 400 members in just the first couple of weeks as the word spreads through the various existing comminuties, including some members of Aces Studios, as well as other prominent movers and shakers in the flightsim community.Registration is quick and simple--fill out a basic form and submit. Log in and you're in. You can then build your profile, add some contacts, upload video, participate in the forum, chat. And make sure to upload a picture of yourself. So I cordially invite you to the new fs-fbo! Please click here, and invite all your friends: http://www.fs-fbo.comThanks-------Justinhttp://www.fsgenesis.netHigh Quality Scenery for FS200x

Great idea Justin! Thanks for the heads up!Regards,John

Boy, one has to wonder why trolls have to come in here and rate my post supporting Justin dislike on a thread that is seven years old....  Just a word to the wise, you aren't welcome as members here if you disrespect people who participate...

Just a thought, but it may be linked to what has since happened over at FSgenesis.

Folks losing access to all their purchased products and lifetime memberships, that kind of thing.

I researched the posts of the member in question, who won't be mentioned but has been reported to the mods.  He has a track record of posts which bash Avsim, Steam, and so on.  I posted support for Justin because of his support for freeware, which was ample.  You have to take the good with the bad--no one is perfect.  People who dive into old threads looking to annoy are trolling.  People with valid opinions such as yours aren't trolling--they are explaining why someone may have an issue and I am fine with that--it's called anger management.  Dislike the issue, don't disrespect people who post support someone because they may not have the whole picture.  The member in question probably doesn't know how I support the community and will continue to support it--for instance, my upcoming Colorado freeware photoreal scenery that I've been posting about in the screenshots forum.
