February 7, 20251 yr Still using MSFS 2020 and loving it. Not any plans to upgrade to 2024. My sim works perfectly and last I purchased Rex Atmos. Loving how beautiful my sim looks.. Besides I don´t know, how my RTX 2060 Super GPU would work with the new sim. The only trouble is that I got too much work which limits my flying hours... 😀 So happy camper here with the 2020 😀 Tapani Österberg
February 7, 20251 yr I haven’t taken a single flight in 2020 since 2024 launched. For me, I find 2024 to more enjoyable even with the bugs and I fly in VR. After SU2 expected in April, the main reasons to stay with 2020 will be for those on older PC’s that can’t handle 2024, those with poor Internet connections or those who are attached to specific add-ons that aren’t yet compatible with 2024. And of course there will be those who are still bitter about 2024’s launch and can’t move past it. Foolishly believing that by boycotting 2024, they'll make MS pay for their mistake of launching prematurely. 2024 will be just as financially successful as 2020 was for MS. 2024 is the future and 2020 will no longer be supported at some point, probably much sooner than later. February 7, 20251 yr I hate MSFS 2024. Yet I fly it every day (in spite of still having my '20 install intact, but untouched). There will be frustrating times and frustrating aircraft, but when the cheese holes line up it's fantastic. Go upgrade and enjoy the journey.
February 7, 20251 yr You can absolutely have both msfs and msfs24 on the same computer so if money is not a problem, go for it! Nobody force you to uninstall msfs if you install msfs24! msfs24 rely heavily on streaming so it footprint on your local storage is really slim compared to msfs. Anyway, you really need to have a good internet to take advantage of it. Fiber over 100 Mbits is recommanded. Now, msfs24 still have a lot of problems and we all hope SU1 will start to correct some of those problems. But even now, I have fun with msfs24 and switch from msfs to msfs24 and vice versa. Msfs24 is the future and happy or not, developpers progressively will abandon msfs once msfs24 will be more stable and more addon will be compatible. I don't expect PMDG, Inibuilds or others to keep releasing msfs version in one year or two from now. Edited February 7, 20251 yr by sdirand
February 7, 20251 yr If you fly in VR I'd avoid it until post SU2 release at the very earliest, it's currently a complete shambles and that's just VR, nevermind the countless aircraft issues and other big bugs including VRAM issues. By all means buy now and play about with it, but be prepared for a Beta experience as it's nowhere near a standard v1.0 release candidate yet. I have both sim installed and it was the worst decision ever, because it basically totally ruined my demand to play sims just because you always need to decide first which sim you want to use. Sounds silly, but it really is like that. Before, it was clear that I fire up MSFS2020 and then decide what kind of flight I am going to do etc., now I already struggle because I have to decide which sim to start. Do I want to fly longhaul? If yes, with the PMDG 777 --> MSFS2020, or with the FBW A380 --> MSFS2020 or MSFS2024. If no, VFR --> MSFS2024 due to the better looking graphics or -> MSFS2020 because still more addon planes for VFR working soley in MSFS2020? Same goes for many other aspects, always the decision. And then, when the decision is finally made, I fire up MSFS2024 and something is borked. Well, back to MSFS2020 then. But the joy is already over and I usually then completely abandon my planned sim session and I do something else... But surely that is just a "you" problem. I have both installed and I enjoy both. If I want long haul then like you I fire up 2020 and fly. If I want to fly low and slow I use 2024 . As 2024 matures I'm sure my 2020 will get used less and less to the point where I take it off completely. if like me you are fortunate enough to have the room for both what is there to loose other than making the tough decision on what to fly today, it's no more complicated than what cereal to have for breakfast. February 7, 20251 yr I'm in the same situation, but I'll probably wait until SU2 before buying it, I don't feel any rush because 2020 works flawlessly for me with all the planes and add-ons I own and I don't have the energy to start from scratch with endless tweaking at the moment. What you're saying here is clearly that each sim has its strengths and weaknesses and there is no BEST sim yet. There are people of course who only fly one sim and say that sim is the best of all but like with any product you have to ignore them because to make a comparison you MUST use 2 products side by side. By definition. There are those of us who use older sims as well (I use 3) because some planes are just majestic in one sim and do not exist in others. If you only care what the scenery looks like and only fly low and slow in trainer in free flight ac then the overwhelming consensus seems to be that yes 2024 has overcome its launch inertia and is a worthy upgrade now. As for other uses that's entirely down to your personal sim preferences. Russell Gough SE London
February 7, 20251 yr No rush for me. 2020 works great, no issue, no problems, so I am staying with it for now. All my flying is on APL and the iFly Max, so I see no advantage to making a change to 2024. Will see what 2024 has to offer in maybe 6 more months. I do have to admit, I can't do this in 2020. Furthermore, 2024 does still have some issues, as everyone is aware who uses it. But guess what? While I still have 2020, I now fly almost exclusively in 2024 -- I am hooked. The reason is simple: it represents a major advance in the way real-life scenery is depicted, so much so that the feeling of immersion is so improved compared to 2020 that it is almost scary. Everything now looks more real -- cities, rural areas, national parks, seashores, mountains, distant views or close-up, cliffsides or ground details -- doesn't matter. Words fail. That's all I can say.

Here is where in the MS store that you put the key:( you can find this box anytime, every Xbox store has this box): Open Xbox Store Click on your gamertag (user name) in upper right corner. Click on "redeem code or gift cards" enter your key (the price in the MS store now reduces from $59.99 to $37.50) The price I see is $49. February 7, 20251 yr I just looked at the Steam statistics, as of today, twice as many people are still flying with MS 2020 versus 2024. Edited February 7, 20251 yr by Bobsk8
