February 9, 20251 yr Thanks for posting @HiFlyer You always post some excellent videos. For night lighting I prefer 2020. The videos show the variation of colors that I prefer. MSFS 2024 has lots of white blobs as viewed from above. Didn't like that at all. It's the first thing I noticed when I did my tests with 2024. As for terrain, 2024 wins easily. MSFS
February 9, 20251 yr If you can spare the money I see no reason not to buy MSFS2024. That is (in my personal opinion) the only thing you have to decide. What if you dont like it? Just leave it alone for a couple of month and use 2020. They both run fine next to each other. There are so many opninions floating around on which one is better, decide for yourself and enjoy making your own choice. February 9, 20251 yr I will tell you my experience. I mainly fly 2020 for A2A and Leonardo. I bought 2024 out of obligation as 2020 has never been an real option for me, on my system the main thread killed the 2020 experience and as my main simulator is xp12 I have had 2020 uninstalled a lot of the time. I first bought for one euro the 15 day game pass and tried 2024 + A2A. While I had very bad luck with 2020 with 2024 the performance is very good and finally I can fly the comanche, so I bought 2024 in an offer for 40 euros, Although I am tempted to buy FSLabs and ifly when 2024 comes out I think I will not invest more money in Microsoft simulators while there is no offline mode, I am one of those who suffered the closure of Google Stadia and I will not make the same mistake again, because if we have learned from the launch of 2024 is that Microsoft does not care anything about the product, they only care about making money at any price and the day this ceases to be profitable they will have no problem in closing it all. MFS2024 without offline mode of the hundreds or thousands of euros that many of us have spent on addons will go down the drain with the game. Buy the $1 Game Pass and see for yourself if it's worth the upgrade. Edited February 9, 20251 yr by Aglos77
February 9, 20251 yr As has been posted about a million times: get a trial subscription for Gamepass and make up your own mind. No need to rely on random videos, or the more or less biased opinions of various users.

February 9, 20251 yr The next Steam sale (Spring sale) begins 13th March, so I'm holding out just in case it's discounted then. If not, I don't think I'll wait any longer.

A2A had a hanger full of great planes in all the older sims and now.....one plane in almost 5 years! great thread here: Russell Gough SE London
November 15, 2025Nov 15 Hey guys, I have been away from flight sim for a while. I just dusted off MSFS 2020 and then I am thinking about MSFS 2024: where is it currently in November 2025? Is it worth it to bother with an upgrade yet, or I am better off to wait longer. When I fly it's exclusively VR, so I am also interested on that too. Thanks in advance. Wait for SU4 to publicly release then it should be in a decent state for VR usage, there's a fair few new issues in the beta that still haven't been fixed for VR users but that's par for the course with Asobo, so we have to accept it is what it is - which at the moment is decent performance and a generally good to decent experience all round with room for lots of improvement. I'd say SU4 is where the game should've been at release, i.e. IMO they released it a year too early /should've called it Early Access etc etc etc Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1 Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)

I have never flown anything but VR, never flown anything but 2024 since it's release, never flown anything but always the latest beta. Wouldn't want anything else. there you have it. my advice to all still undecided: why not get the free Xbox game pass trial and find out for yourself? or be brave and waste the full amount of $ 1,- for a 14 day trial: Premium $14.99/month$1.00 for 14 days https://www.xbox.com/en-us/promotions/game-pass-offer/partner-trial https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/store/microsoft-flight-simulator-2024-standard-edition Edited November 15, 2025Nov 15 by turbomax AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler. 60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking. very nice.
