Ok I set it with your value, the difference I'm noticing is that when I release the trim button now the wheel keeps rolling for a second which did not happen with msfs elev trim assignmet.

yes, try 20.0 or 20,1

To be honest, hand flying has always been a weak spot of the PMDG.  There are several strange things about their flight model that they've always kind of ignored.  I've seen them push the narrative in

Hard to phrase it any better than that.

  • Since I got the iFly Max, I haven't touched either the PMDG 737 or the 777. To me, they are not top-tier anymore.

Hi, after all this years - how do you manage trim in these aircrafts ?

I still dont get it why a small adjustment feels like rollercoaster

A2A Comanche is really something else

MSFS2020 btw - hopefully MS2024 feels better

Thanks

Honestly, I'm trying to figure out what you mean. I don't find it harder to trim than other aircraft in msfs (ifly included).

Thanks very much, finally I've set it, with your value and through FSUIPC's select for FS control, Elev Trim Dn. Which doesn't have that post release delay. I can't tell the difference though, setting it like this or as I had it before through msfs control options, elevator trim down (nose down), elevator trim up (nose up). But I appreciate your help anyways.

Can you point me to what specifically means the pmdg stabilizer is too sensitive compared to others? I've never seen rollercoaster behavior when trimming. Can you take a video and show me how that looks?

Edit: It could be that I just naturally don't make prolonged adjustments to trim and I just make small adjustments out of habit.

Well trimming it out is really a pain. One click on my yoke and 2 seconds later i can have +-400-800 feet per minut.

There is an instruction to use FSUIPC or the .cfg file to lower the senstivity . I will try it out.

If you have used A2A Comanche you will know the differents .

Even the NGXU in P3D is way more forgiven

Interesting. I'll try that out and see. I don't have the a2a unfortunately. I do know that trimming in msfs in general has been more temperamental than other sims across most aircraft. I remember that being a common complaint from other rw pilots.

I understand. Let us know; we should be able to fix it on the 737. On the 777, they screwed up that FBW trim system and it can't be fixed; it's in their code.

So what do you think is screwed up in the FBW Trim system?

So the question is, when did you last fly the real airplane? Are you type-rated in equipment? If so, you should spot the issues right away. As an example, the last time I flew the real 777 was about 7 or 8 years ago for about 1 1/2 years. The bottom line is that they are somewhere 1/2 way where they should be. It's not right for sure; they can get it right with minor tweaking.

So what do i have to do with this? I asked what you think is wrong with it?

And as a matter of fact, yes i am currently typerated and flying the B77F for a living.
That is also why i prefer to fly the PMDG 737. I’ve never flown the 737 in real life, and it probably isn’t perfect either. But to me the 737 feels nice to fly and i’m having a lot of fun with it.
When you actually fly the real plane, you notice everything that is not feeling quite right (what do you expect from a 90$ addon?) and it breaks the immersion.

Kind Regards,
André

Considering that you fly for a living the 777, I expected you to see the significant issues with the PMDG 777's trim and fly-by-wire systems in this flight simulator. It should be noted that many of us, the real 777 pilots, have complained about these issues and brought them to the PMDG attention.
PMDG 777 didn't capture the C*u Law well.
The auto-trimming behavior that occurs with elevator input is incorrect.
Trim that is very sensitive leads to pitch oscillations. Even though it was about seven years ago, I vividly remember the airplane being very stable.
And those are just a few of the issues among others. I am glad to hear that the 737 brings you joy; unfortunately, even that one has issues with the AP, FD, and LNAV, and it is quite light in flight controls feel.
