Does the Turbine Duke come with the professional GTN750

Featured Replies

The turbine Duke looks great.

I note that it appears to come with a variety of avionics including the GTN750.

Is that just the standard version of the GTN750 which does not allow importing flight plans from LNM or Simbrief?

If so will a subscription fee to PMS allow it to be upgraded in the turbine Duke?

Thanks

You have to have the TDS or PMS GTN to use a GTN750 in the Duke, Recommend TDS over PMS.

TDS is more capable and realistic

Thanks Jason for the info.

Is it easy to switch over to the TDS as every video I have watched only uses the GTN750?

yep it works no install to do into the Duke. When you choose a Duke livery to fly in MSFS it says if the livery is PMS or TDS

Sorry I am away from my sim, but I believe that one can select which GPS you want in the iPad EFB in the plane, am I correct? The livery selection refers to the FSW C414 and Learjet if I remember well.

my mistake you choose between the PMS and TDS in the planes tablet

TDS GTNxi 750/650 Integration To switch between PMS and TDS products, toggle the PMS/TDS switch in the avionics selection section of the tablet interface’s options page. For more information on radio hot-swapping and selecting an avionics package, see the “Options Page” section of this manual. If a new TDS installation is detected, the TDS will be automatically selected next time you load the aircraft for your convenience. Your avionics selection, including your preferred GTN 750 product, will be saved for your next flight. The TDS GTNxi is available from: https://www.tdssim.com/tdsgtnx

I just researched the internet for the TDS GTNXi and found the web site and it seems it too has a fee for the 'professional' version like the PMS does and I assume it too has the extra feature of being able to import an LNM or Simbrief flight plan.

If this is correct then I have no option but to pay for the professional version of one or the other?

Yes, both units are payware.

Worth every cent especially as you can use them in so many ac and even as standalone for default ac where there is no panel space for them.

I use the TDS and love that when I'm too busy to sim (lunch break etc) I can fire up the 750 unit outside the sim and program my flight plan at leisure and there it is ready to go when I use the sim later. Also custom waypoints. With gps coordinates you can program in points of interest world wide such as mountain tops, beaches or grass strips too small for the garmin/jeppeson database. You can even program your own approaches this way to remote airfields with none irl including altitude restrictions.

Thanks everyone.  I can see the preference seem to be with the TDS rather than the MPS. I will do a comparison for the features of each but probably go for the TDS. I am particularly looking for avionics which allow me to import a pre-prepared flightplan from LNM or Simbrief for the times when I want to get in the air quickly.

Full disclosure:  I have both the PMS Pro and the TDS Pro.   The TDS is my preferred go to solution BUT, you can import a Simbrief or LNM FP into either. As a matter of fact the PMS ingests directly from Simbrief.  For TDS you must export your FP in native Garmin mode and then you can ingest it into the TDS.

The PMS is a capable simulation of a Garmin, as is the TDS.  Main difference is PMS simulates the Garmin. TDS leverages the Garmin Trainer meaning not a simulation but an actual Garmin is used for navigation.  Hope this helps,

As noted above, the TDS unit requires a garmin gfp flightplan for import.  This is a specific step for each new flightplan..  Example LNM: "multi export flightplan options".

Personally, I love the TDS unit, but if your main goal is getting in the air quickly, as stated.. you may want to look closely at this import sequence.

If you are reusing existing flightplans, it would be no issue since you can store flightplans in the GTN unit itself.

Thanks Bert. I probably will want to 'move on' from importing flight plans eventually and so maybe it isn't a real issue.

The only decision I now have to make is where to purchase the Turbine Duke from.

From Just Flight, MSFS Market place or  SimMarket which is the cheapest but maybe not the best way, I have no idea.

Have any of the readers of this thread purchased from SimMarket and if so any feedback? Thanks.

I buy many products from SimMarket.  I DONT like their new downloader app.  Much prefer to download and install where I want, not where some app decides.

That said, I’ve never been dissatisfied with JustFlight and since it is a JustFlight product, that would be my recommendation.
