2020 degraded detail in buildings at around 2 miles ahead.

Featured Replies

My last few flights done today have had very poor detail on large buildings about 2 miles ahead when at low level in CAVOK conditions with good lighting, this seems to have coincided with my graphics settings being changed without my input, I think I have now reset to what I was using previously but this low detail building thing persists.

Its as if its on a very low LOD setting but only affecting buildings (my LOD settings are same as previous -150 for both)

Anyone else got this?, or is there some setting I dont know about?

This happens to me in both 2020 and 2024. TLOD, internet etc nothing makes a difference as it seems to random for me.

I noticed this with Seattle buildings yesterday. It looked like it had just randomly tossed texture files at the buildings. They were not even straight. Some were at a 45 degree angle with the windows climbing like stairs LOL

Have you tried out the AutoFPS app?  It crated a totally new MSFS experience for me. I believe it addresses what you are experiencing in a very direct sense.

Thanks for the suggestion but having read what AutoFPS  is about I don't believe that would address this. I'm not chasing FPS or having a problem with low TLOD it just seems to be buildings

I'm leaning towards thinking its simply an adjustment made server side in what data they choose to squirt out.

This seems to be a constant problem with this game, with so much control of quality being server side.

Hard to adjust for what quality you prefer if microsoft can change it to suit their load balancing.

Afps is more like keeping the same fps while also increasing detail /lod. Always giving you max available while not slowing the sim down in busy areas.

You're also right in that it's the gfx themselves that are random and unreliable. I've just started avoiding built up areas that I'm familiar with as it's nowhere near 'as good as it gets'.

Have you cleared the rolling cache? This may explain the persistence.

Was this a new area you were flying?
