ATC: Speedbird 254, go to __ Center at 119.5.

Recommended Posts

I've noticed some ATC "centers" are *unnamed* in FSX. Is this by design?Sometimes ATC will say, Speedbird 254, go to Shanwick Center at 121.5.Other times, ATC will say, Speedbird 254, go to Center at 119.4.There is a space (_) in the ATC window, as if there is SUPPOSED to be a name there, but sometimes, there isn't.P.S. I am not using any voicepack mods; stock FSX evp file.RhettE8500, Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro, ASUS P5E3 Premium, BFG 8800GTX 756 (nVidia 169 WHQL), 4gb DDR3 1600 Patriot Cas7 7-7-7-20 (2T), PC Power 750, WD 150gb 10000rpm Raptor, Seagate 500gb, Silverstone TJ09 case, Vista Ultimate 64

In real flying, sometimes if you are already in contact with a Center or TRACON and get passed to another sector within that some facility, the name of the facility is not spoken. But I sense that you are saying that the unspoken name sometimes occurs when contacting a new facility?Bruce.

>But I sense that you are saying that the unspoken name>sometimes occurs when contacting a new facility?>I think I have experienced that, yes. I'll pay better attn to when it happens next time. What bothers me a bit, is that there is a _ space in the ATC window, as if some text string is supposed to be there.I guess it's by design. It wouldn't be the first spacing error I've seen in FSX ATC. Ever seen the ,,,, comma error in the ATC window? I have.RhettFS box: E8500 (@ 3.16 ghz), AC Freezer 7 Pro, ASUS P5E3 Premium, BFG 8800GTX 756 (nVidia 169 WHQL), 4gb DDR3 1600 Patriot Cas7 7-7-7-20 (2T), PC Power 750, WD 150gb 10000rpm Raptor, Seagate 500gb, Silverstone TJ09 case, Vista Ultimate 64ASX Client: AMD 3700+ (@ 2.6 ghz), 7800GT

FS does appear to try to randomize some of the stock phrases.I've always put it down to that - but you are correct - there are a very, very large number of airports, centers and other places in FS which are not named in the voice packs.

Yes, and I don't think the center names are definable using EVP. Is that correct?RhettFS box: E8500 (@ 3.16 ghz), AC Freezer 7 Pro, ASUS P5E3 Premium, BFG 8800GTX 756 (nVidia 169 WHQL), 4gb DDR3 1600 Patriot Cas7 7-7-7-20 (2T), PC Power 750, WD 150gb 10000rpm Raptor, Seagate 500gb, Silverstone TJ09 case, Vista Ultimate 64ASX Client: AMD 3700+ (@ 2.6 ghz), 7800GT

I assume the center voice names are also stored in the voicepack file. Perhaps Lars (author of EVP) knows. But then again, if they were editable, I think he would have done it in EVP.RhettFS box: E8500 (@ 3.16 ghz), AC Freezer 7 Pro, ASUS P5E3 Premium, BFG 8800GTX 756 (nVidia 169 WHQL), 4gb DDR3 1600 Patriot Cas7 7-7-7-20 (2T), PC Power 750, WD 150gb 10000rpm Raptor, Seagate 500gb, Silverstone TJ09 case, Vista Ultimate 64ASX Client: AMD 3700+ (@ 2.6 ghz), 7800GT

I think those unamed centers are actually flight sim ATCcenters where there is no ATC coverage in real life.Just a thought.
