March 3, 20251 yr An interesting comparison. Apparently this is on final approach to Runway 16L at LIRF Rome Fiumicino. March 3, 20251 yr Amazing but it seems Bing maps around Rome suffer the same as Bing maps around London; they're images of late summer/early autumn, post-harvest. For the majority of the year open land is green, not brown.

March 3, 20251 yr Was about to say the same! Some of the trees in the real life clip are way too tall, and the haze is overdone as well.

March 3, 20251 yr That video proved to me that I don't need to move on from MS2020 especially with all or most of my favorite aircraft still only exist there.
March 3, 20251 yr 2024 overdoes everything. It adds too many trees and too many houses/buildings and too many random colors in the trees.
March 4, 20251 yr I always felt 2020 buildings are too ‘beefy’. I can really notice it in this video. But on the flip side, 2024 buildings seem lost in the background. Both are pretty good overall though.
March 4, 20251 yr First of all both of them are incredible representations of the real world even the real world one 😉 but for me "personally" there were a lot of areas of the 2020 video that looked better than 2024 and there were a number of areas of the 2024 video that looked better than 2020 like the "river" 2020 created or the hills, roads and traffic being more defined in 2024 but one thing that was evident and I don't know if they were filmed with the same wind is the 2020 wingflex matched the real world much closer whereas the 2024 displayed far less wing flex activity... 2020 is like something I never thought I would see in a simulator, especially coming from P3D. It was truly revolutionary for flightsim. 2024 Looked far more evolutionary from 2020 than revolutionary like something I had never seen before... It's interesting when you see a video shot in real time showing them side by side how similar they can look. Especially on approach doing 140+ kts... I don't know why some of the trees were white, maybe the creator of the video is using some incompatible add-on, or it's just a bug with MSFS 2024. But depending on the month that is used in MSFS 2024 to compose that video, MSFS 2020 has the wrong tree color, because it could be fall or late winter in Rome. A quick Google search shows that trees in Rome do change color in the fall: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&sca_esv=d19486c00f3e07e1&sxsrf=AHTn8zqQxyilIdsHCKHvbjtoptEDsvAC2Q:1741069774667&q=rome+italy+trees+autumn&udm=2&fbs=ABzOT_CWdhQLP1FcmU5B0fn3xuWpA-dk4wpBWOGsoR7DG5zJBr1qLlHFB6ZBcx-Arq68_wdJlnBwAHirUEMwdE4O8L3EAKFv1j7UiuSAecGKNips1VdV5-O5Tg7ctaJkSrkz0A_ejGQ7MJJ1UZ217ZrmVHBh4LwdF-sG7OdlwnzwEU86RhvCiRsI_9ifYNdLtc8sbigKBt3udOS3Qjoa1KswiAeMrqNscw&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwidzsqr5u-LAxXBePUHHdBFIFkQtKgLegQIHhAB&biw=1920&bih=947 MSFS 2020 doesn't model seasons and you have to get an add-on to even get seasons, so the trees being green all year round is just wrong for Rome. i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM
March 4, 20251 yr It's not apparent higher up, but closer to the ground in that video, you can see the "cauliflower" type trees of MSFS 2020. It's one of the reasons why I can't go back to MSFS 2020, because the tree variation and vegetation variation in MSFS 2024 is simply at a whole new level. One of the biggest improvements in MSFS 2024 is the increased tree variation and increase vegetation variation. I'll admit, that when MSFS 2020 came out, it was revolutionary and I didn't mind the "cauliflower" type trees of MSFS 2020. But playing MSFS 2020 for several years, the "cauliflower" type trees get to you, and I am glad that they are not a major issue in MSFS 2024. In general, if you like to fly "low and slow" such as bush flying, helicopter flying, etc, MSFS 2024 is a huge improvement over MSFS 2024 (and I have created a separate thread to discuss why MSFS 2024 is the best for "low and slow").
