Cybertruck not legal in UK.

Featured Replies

You can figure why when you watch the video below. Legal cars in the UK are designed to reduce injury to pedestrians with softer bumpers, crumple zones and no sharp corners.

The guy in the video had no serious injuries.

Lesson number one, look both ways before crossing a street.  Also, the black car appeared to be going significantly faster than the traffic moving in the opposite direction, so lesson number two, don't speed.

My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.

It's too wide and big for these streets.

The car drove off afterward. Appeared to have a yellow plate while others around were white. Sounds like the car accelerated hard when the pedestrian stepped in front of him. Guy on phone actually looked at approaching car.

White plates are on the front in the UK and yellow on the back.

It is, too heavy too. You need a different license in the UK to drive a vehicle that heavy. The sharp corners aren't allowed either. The steering system isn't certified for the UK and the strip light for the headlight isn't legal in the UK.

A 47-year-old man was involved in the crash but only suffered "minor injuries", said cops.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene with no arrests made, confirmed the Metropolitan Police.

"The car stopped at the scene and the driver has been helping police with their enquiries, which are ongoing.

In a built-up area like that there’s no way a car should be doing that speed. The driver may be on a mobile because he definitely wasn’t watching the road.

And driving off like that is irresponsible. Even if the pedestrian was uninjured he should at least stop and apologise. Maybe over the limit. Drink or drugs. Hope someone got his number.

According to the article the driver did stop and is under investigation by the police.

As a matter of routine he would have been breathalysed and drug tested at the scene.

Looks like an unfortunate combination of the pedestrian crossing the road whilst distracted by his phone and an word not allowed, impatient driver flooring it....

The pedestrian was, Ray.

But it does demonstrate that the laws in the UK, and elsewhere, are a good thing, regarding how cars are designed. The guy had no serious injuries.

Re the Cybertruck, I can only assume that the laws are way less stringent in the US, in regard to car design.

Indeed he was but that doesn’t excuse the driver. I think it was just pure luck he wasn’t injured. Add 20 years to him and it could be fatal.

I've seen a few Cybertrucks on the road around Nashville, and each time I see one I'm reminded how ugly they are.  It looks like the futuristic vehicles in low budget sci-fi films from the 80s.  I just don't understand the appeal.

To be fair, I also think the big Hummers are silly.  Just my 2c.

When I first saw it I was suprised by its ugliness. After a while I got used to the radical design but have now come full circle and dislike it again.

Not sure how much influence Musk has had but I'm baffled by the design choices.

One thing is for sure, unless it's radically redesigned from a technical standpoint it won't be on British roads.

“Cybertruck not legal in UK”.  I see a video of a pedestrian crossing a street while talking on a cellphone being hit by a reckless driver. Cybertruck? Why not a hydrogen-filled zeppelin? That would be a really bad day for a lot of people.
