FSX AI Traffic

Recommended Posts

Guest 3rdwatch

Guys, I took about a year off from FS. Recently I picked up a new computer and FSX. Needless to say I am way behind on the power curve here. I am trying to get FSX up to speed and want to add AI aircraft. I tried searching but after a years worth of posts it's not very easy to find info. Will traffic tools still work?Is there a good resource for currently flight plans?Do AI flightplans still install the same?Is there a way to remove the default AIIs there something like editvoice to add airline call signsIf anyone has experience with Ultimate Traffic can it be hacked to use other AI planes? Thanks for any helpChris

Hi,1. Not with true FSX plans. FS9 plans will work if they are converted into FSX format.2. World of AI.3. Yes.4. Yes, same as for FS04, delete/rename/move the default plan.5. There is a beta version ou there that many of us are using. It is not full feature yet.Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/

Jim, Thanks for the info.Do you have any leads on the beta editvoice. I didn't have any lucj with the Avsim search engine. Also do you know if there is anything to speed up the ATC speaking. I remember I had something in FS9 that sped up the atc commands.ThanksChris

A couple of things to watch out for:1) you can use the old FS9 EditVoicePack just fine in FSX. To the best of my knowledge, the newer beta for FSX doesn't allow you to create new content yet. But you can create new content using the FS9 EditVoicePack and use that in FSX.1a) yes you can speed up ATC voices using EditVoicePack.2) World of AI is a great resource, but keep in mind, they are still releasing FS9 flight plans. Yes, you can convert them...but that is not enough. The AIRCRAFT that WoAI installs, will be set up for FS9 parking, and so they won't park correctly in FSX unless you change their wing_span info.Case-in-Point: The recently-released World of AI package, CargoLux, has Boeing 747's that will park in Boeing 757-sized spots in FSX. This will result in wingtips overlapping.RhettFS box: E8500 (@ 3.16 ghz), AC Freezer 7 Pro, ASUS P5E3 Premium, BFG 8800GTX 756 (nVidia 169 WHQL), 4gb DDR3 1600 Patriot Cas7 7-7-7-20 (2T), PC Power 750, WD 150gb 10000rpm Raptor, Seagate 500gb, Silverstone TJ09 case, Vista Ultimate 64ASX Client: AMD 3700+ (@ 2.6 ghz), 7800GT

FSX Parking Values:Just change the value in the aircraft.cfg file. Also, here is Reggie Fields' wing_span spreadsheet that everyone is using.http://www.flightsim2004-fanatics.com/Flig...gSpanValues.htmYou candownload it using the link at the top-left corner of the page.FSX Traffic Conversion:Peter van der Veen's AIFPC (v1.07 - July '07) will convert any FS9 bgl to FSX bgl, correct airports, starting day of the week, and so on. You can only run FS9 blg's or FSX bgl's. You can not mix them. Convert them all, or don't convert any. I convert them all. Also, don't convert using any x64 (64-bit) OS as it has issues that Peter is already aware of. Just convert using any non_x64 (32-bit) OS and copy the FSX bgls back if necessary. Located as an attachment to the 4th post from the bottom here: http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthrea...p?t=4746&page=3FSX AFCAD and Scenery Editing Tool:What else, the freeware Airport Design Editor (ADE) tool. Just search the AVSIM library "Flight Simulator X - Scenery Design" for Author = "ADE Development Team" to get the latest full and update versions and guides.Latest full version 1.20 http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=119496Latest update version 1.30 http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=122658MRAI Installer (yes, it still works)Many, including myself, still use it to install repaints and downloaded flightplans. To work in FSX, you just need have the base-models in a ..FSXAircraft folder that you create and set as a valid "simobject" path in the fsx.cfg file.Get the lastest full version of the MRAI installer (v1.23) and update (v1.24) at the bottom link here: http://aifs.pvdveen.net/download.htmAI Error CheckingA fabulous tool for checking all kinds of potential errors in FS9 was Peter's ACA2005 tool. He has been working on a FSX version called ACA2007-Light and it does have basic AI error checking in it now. It can also be found on his download-page here: http://aifs.pvdveen.net/download.htmAI SoundYou may want to manually add the "soundai" folder and soundai.cfg file to all the base-models to turn sound back on in FSX. Look at the FSX default AI aircraft folders and the soundai folder within as examples to the configuration.Moving JetwaysSome are making use of the new FSX built-in functionality to have moving jetways align and operate with all their AI aircraft. I don't recommend this and I have tried and re-disable the affect as moving all jetways within a 128nm radius of your current location is an absolute CPU killer, especially when you are located at a dense airport to begin with. If you wish to try this functionality, add the proper "Exit" data points to the aircraft config file. Passenger exits on the left and baggage exits on the right. John Goodwin of Ultimate traffic did most of the initial exit-reseach and the data and zips can be found here: http://ultimatetraffic.flight1.net/forums/...ts.asp?TID=2962. More recent exit-data can also be found on the base-model forums as well.Special EffectsYou can also add (for FS9 or FSX) Nick Needham's AI Exhaust Effects and Shockwave's (now A2A Simulations) Lights Redux for some newer lighting Effects. Nick's AI Jet Exhaust With Control Gauge can be found here: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=41187 and the Lights Redux can be found here: http://www.a2asimulations.com/store/shockwavelights/. Configuration data for all the AI models for these affects can be found on the Alpha India Group (AIG) webpage here: http://www.alpha-india.net/content/blogsection/8/39/ or catogorized by manufacturer under the "Enhance Your AI" menu item at the top of the same page.I am going to state the following as a matter of fact, and not as an opportunity for discussion, only for the purposes of informing others to the optional compatibility to expand the availabilty of repaints available in the library that are still valid and useable. If you are downloading repaints and manually installing them, you will find many repaints/liveries created for the EvolveAI (EVAI) Airbus models. You will not however be able to find these models as stated in most of the attached Readme.txt files (don't ask); just use the newer DJC (Craig Ritchie) airbus models instead. These EVAI repaints are completely compatible with the DJC models after changing the bmp file names just a bit. Craig included instructions to this effect in his Readme included with the DJC models. Some other base-models may be harder to find as well. I have original downloaded zips of most, if not all, of the base models. So, if you can't find one, PM me and I'll either point you in the right direction or arrange an e-mail attachment.Good luck and enjoy...Regards,

Regards,

>>> Is there a resource to see how to change the wingspan or is>it just changing it in the aircraft/cfg file?>>ThanksIt's in the aircraft.cfg for the AI aircraft you're wanting to fix.Al's post, above, is definitive--I can't think of any base he didn't cover.RhettFS box: E8500 (@ 3.16 ghz), AC Freezer 7 Pro, ASUS P5E3 Premium, BFG 8800GTX 756 (nVidia 169 WHQL), 4gb DDR3 1600 Patriot Cas7 7-7-7-20 (2T), PC Power 750, WD 150gb 10000rpm Raptor, Seagate 500gb, Silverstone TJ09 case, Vista Ultimate 64ASX Client: AMD 3700+ (@ 2.6 ghz), 7800GT
