That's not going to work. You have to write BOLD AND IN CAPITAL LETTERS TO BE BELIEVED AND TO GET MORE THAN (CURRENTLY) 2 LIKES. 😆🤣

Just please help me and I am sure many of the other users of this forum but what is the point of this post, exactly? It adds nothing to the conversation.

Gotta feel sorry for the devs; it’s not enough that they give up their free time at unsociable hours to face what they know will be (at least some) uncomfortable questions on a global platform in thei

Disagree. Working in global business comms I’ve heard it said many times by native English speakers that French colleagues are unenthusiastic. Also Japanese, Scandinavian, Indian etc. etc. etc. Sure,

  • What I have learned in life is that there are people you will never be able to satisfy. Whatever Joerg, Seb or Martial do or say, it's never enough because they forgot to mention this or that or they

I bet you yourself could get a lot of likes by not posting here anymore 😉

As a software designer, architect and developer for 35 years i can appreciate how challenging this project is. I am not going to sit here and say it is easy. It took four years after release of 2020 to get that product really solid, but they did mostly pull it off. I was on board with this long development process because i could see the long-term benefits. When they announced FS24 i was pretty excited. It really looked like the next step forward, and to be fair, it still may be. But then i saw how many problems it had, and still has, and i am just disappointed that we are going to lose the momentum we had going with 2020 and start another long development cycle.

But none of this would be a real issue if they just stopped releasing untested software with half-baked features (like the marketplace). Over and over again they release versions with the attitude that “we know best” and over and over again they are proven wrong. These missteps, and the complete lack of quality control, have directly led to the first four year development cycle, which could have been realistically cut in half. My concern is we will spend another 4 years fixing FS24, and right when it is solid start another long development cycle with FS28. And of course, FS28 will have major bugs that were already fixed in FS24, but they never bothered to merge those fixes into FS28 before release. This whole process just feels dysfunctional.

I sure hope SU2 fixes a lot of problems. If it does i will happily change my mind.

Agree with the whole post except this bit.

It strikes me that this dysfunctionality manifests itself in a "we'll punt this out and hope for the best" attitude rather than arrogance.

I'm going to assume the marketplace revenue they've forgone over the last six months means the lessons of 2024's development and release will remain fresh in corporate memory when it comes to 2028....hopefully 🤔

Funny how "personal attacks" against forum members are against the rules here, but personal attacks naming developers by name appear to be fair game. Always keeping it classy here on AVSim. There's a reason this place is increasingly becoming the butt of the joke in other flightsim communities. I'll continue spending more of my time in those other communities, as they typically throw the trash into the dumpster where it belongs.

I've seen them come to the defense of Austin in the past but the MS/Asobo folks seem to be fair game.

What other communities?

Visiting them frequently I can assure you the internet warriors, or whatever you want to call persons with a strong opinion, are present in these surroundings as well. They are everywhere! 😨

Nah, it's been 'really solid' for a good 3 years here.  Over 5K hours now, rarely a hiccough, fabulous performance, fabulous visuals, ultra smooth animation, etc.  After maybe 30 flights now in 2024 I still prefer 2020 because of how solid and complete it is.  And that did not just happen it's been that way for....years.

Agreed... but it's rare to see posts calling out individual devs, attacking their demeanor or telling them to leave their jobs. I've seen it more than a few times here, especially after one of these Q&A's (which, by the way, Asobo in no way needs to do... I can count on one hand other game devs that do the same, and none as frequently as Asobo).

It's also become the common theme here for the internet warriors to drag down every thread they can. Almost everything posted about 2024 goes completely off the rails because of an off-topic dig by one of those warriors. Which brings out the people defending the sim, who are then called cultists and the like. Just look at the last SU thread. How many posts were actually about the SU and instead complaining about things that are already scheduled for another SU or just random rants? Threads that could otherwise be helpful or informative turn into heaps of garbage because obvious rage-bait is tolerated in the name of "free speech".

This thread... derailed within 3 posts. Guess I'll be watching the VOD.

I guess i imagined all those sim updates that occurred the past three years.

Umm, all that speaks to is background steady improvements and here is the fact which I'll repeat:  Over 5K hours now, rarely a hiccough, fabulous performance, fabulous visuals, ultra smooth animation, etc.  YOU said it took 4y to get the product really solid.  Sorry, it's been really solid, for me, for 3y.  For you, apparently not.
