The Core Parking of CCD1 is a feature, not a bug in normal ops. The 9900x3D doesnt “fix” anything, since the chips are designed to have core parking operational while gaming; it’s just a beefier chip and will yield better performance. Thanks for the help! Okay I turned off game mode in the BIOS, and see the 16 cores again. What is the next step? I have the Game mode on in Windows 11, but I still see 16 cores. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro

Its a 16 core, 32 thread chip, so I’m assuming you have SMT off in the bios. when you run the sim, the last 8 cores should be more or less parked, unless a background task is using them. Thanks again. Okay I have SMT off in the BIOS. When I run the sim I see all 16 cores going, and none of them are parked that I can tell. I have SMU Common set to Driver in the BIOS. Is that correct? I will say though, the sim feels really smooth, so maybe I am good as is? I was running FSLTL so maybe that accounted for the extra cores working? 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro

IIRC, it only parks the cores when a game is the active window. once you alt-tab to s non-game application core parking is switched off again. Here’s the funny part, if MSFS (or any game) loses window focus, the core parking is disabled until the game is back in focus. So you’ll either need a second monitor to see the results of core parking, or you’ll have process Lasso window set to always on top, if you don’t have a performance monitor overlay already active. March 22, 20251 yr Thanks guys. I had AMD Ryzen Master up so I could see which cores were being used, and the primary cores were on CCD1 (non-vcache cores). I went through Jayz's video on the matter, and I did everything he said to do. I have CPPC in the BIOS set to Driver, I had the game bar running, uninstalled the AMD chipset drivers, clean uninstalled them, and verified that the amd3dvcahce service was running. When I went into the BIOS and changed CPPC to Cache it worked. But now the lower frequency cache cores are the primary, which is not ideal. At least now I have full use of all 16 cores, so that is nice. But I wonder why Driver does not work as intended? 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro

I have followed all the advice with multiple attempts and can not get core parking to activate. Currently using Process Lasso to put MSFS on CCD0. This is frustrating but I will continue to tinker. I did put a fresh copy of Win 11 over my existing copy in the hope it would fix it as others have suggested. Maybe it’s time to bite the bullet and just do a fresh install. March 23, 20251 yr I've got core parking working. I'm on a Gigabyte X670 AORUS ELITE AX motherboard. My BIOS settings in case it's useful: CPPC dynamic preferred cores: auto PBO limits: motherboard CPU boost clock overdrive: enabled (positive) MAX CPU boost block override: 200 Curve optimizer: Per CCD CCD 0: negative 20 SMT on Note: as I took the screenshot, MSFS2024 was in focus. As mentioned earlier in this thread - if it's not, core parking will not work properly. Edited March 23, 20251 yr by Cpt_Piett 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
March 23, 20251 yr Thanks Cpt_Piett. Interesting, I have the 7800X3D with a Gigabyte AX670E AORUS PRO X w/64GB Ram, WD_Black850X 4TB NVMe Storage and a GALAX GeForce RTX4090 Hydro White,360mm AIO Liquid Cooler. Wondering if I can use your settings? I'm looking at this new CPU myself, the AMD 990X3D. The 9950X3D is an option too but I think it might be overkill for me since I am not using it for other than for gaming. I'll probably just do a rebuild with a new motherboard as well and use the current Gaming PC to replace my old Intel 9900K with a RTX3080ti that runs in my racing rig/seat....😁

To be honest, I don't know what BIOS settings would be best for your CPU. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

Just don’t force MSFS on to CCD0 with PL is what I’m saying. AMD made their drivers work in a very specific way to enable core parking automatically. It’d be likened to the difference between using native frame gen vs Lossless Scaling. Lossless has its uses and is easy to use, but native frame gen works better because it’s able to communicate with the driver and application. PL is great for (when core parking is working as intended) background tasks like BATC/SI.ai, Volanta, Discord, etc.you can put those programs onto CCD1 and free up CCD0 even more. March 23, 20251 yr Ok I now seem to have core parking working consistently. Problem is I am not really sure what fixed it as everything appears the same to me. Four flights with MSFS2024 (all re-launches of the app) and consistent core parking every time. So fingers crossed it stays this way.
