  • Yep I just did this.  Exited the beta, waited for it to say Join again, then rebooted PC. Wiped LOL! It's way beyond a laughing matter.  I've been one of the few to defend this sim but what

Kind of funny seeing a highly successful gaming company totally screw their helpful/unpaid beta testers. Just think of the number of man-hours lost * the number of users recovering from this mess.

  • Let me rephrase that: "We are so incompetent that there is a chance - meaning that we are not entirely sure of that... we cannot reproduce it but it can happen... we say it in that way simply because

In fairness to the OP, it didn't become apparent this was a beta issue until well over an hour after his post

Yes (agreed), but it's often handy to say you're on the beta team when you post ... just in case!

Had no idea.  Hyperbole is the food of this place it seems.

Wiped my entire installation, but my community folder is ok. I don't really know what to do now, I'm in disbelief!

this normally happens when users don't carefully select the install path. If you were using a different path in your previous installation, not the default path that the original installation offered and don't choose that path again for this update and simply accept what is offered by default, the install manager will create a whole new installation at the suggested default location, which would explain why your COMMUNITY in the non-default location was left untouched. otherwise the install program will create a new one, which naturally is empty. this has been the same since day 1.

people joining the beta program should check the official support site first:

"Hi folks, We have escalated this internally. Our production team has advised me that they were doing some backend work in preparation for the start of the SU2 beta. If you were previously enrolled in the beta test group, you may receive this download, but it is not the SU2 beta nor is it an update to the sim; you will remain on the same version (SU1 release, 1.3.23.0). We are currently investigating why this might have resulted in some of your settings or Community folder being reset. Thanks, …"

For me, it reset my community folder location, which I set back.  Nothing lost there.

My graphics settings were reset, but controller settings were intact.

Overall, not bad.

GSX seems broken after the update, there's already a topic in their forum about it.

I can't get the FG working again after this "update"! Install wipes out all files in msfs 2024 root directory. So I put back those two files launch nvidia disabling check just in case and there is NO FG option in sim settings. Reloaded sim twice without success. I don't know what to do. The sim is unplayable for me now (3060)

Sorry for those, but I think I will wait to start flying this weekend a bit cause I’m on the Beta.

I'm in the beta, but I haven't even initiated any updates in the past few days. All general settings were reset, all my controller profiles are gone, and my community folder is empty 🤯😠!

I9-13900K, RTX 4090, DR5-6000MHZCORSAIR ICUE H150I ELITE, ASUS PRIME Z790-P, THERMALTAKE TOUGHPOWER GF3 1350W, WIN 11

It's a nuisance, but as usual people are blowing this way out of proportion.

Nothing gets "wiped" or lost, GSX does not seize to function.

One just has to point the sim to the community folder again, as it reverts to the default one, then enable or disable any conflicting streamed add ons. Then restart the the whole thing, exit again and then relink all FSDreamteam scenery through the installer.

Done.

How to install a new update safely

To ensure a smooth update of Microsoft Flight Simulator, it is crucial to check for outdated packages, corrupted saves, and profile/peripherals settings that may cause compatibility issues, leading to unstable performance and long loading times. We strongly recommend you follow the checklist below before installing a new patch and reinstall any additional content, plug-ins, or peripherals after installing the update to minimize any complications.

MOVE (OR RENAME) YOUR COMMUNITY FOLDER

Before updating Microsoft Flight Simulator, move your community package(s) to another folder or drive. If you do not have free space on your other drives, you can rename the folder to "Test_Community" instead.
