Geez - wiped my entire community folder I was in the beta as well.

MS/Asobo has turned into a bunch of amateur programmers

Edit - so do i just start reinstalling everything in my community folder or is it somehow going to magically appear again?  Fortunately I didn't have too much stuff in there and I definitely opted out of the beta

  • Yep I just did this.  Exited the beta, waited for it to say Join again, then rebooted PC. Wiped LOL! It's way beyond a laughing matter.  I've been one of the few to defend this sim but what

Kind of funny seeing a highly successful gaming company totally screw their helpful/unpaid beta testers. Just think of the number of man-hours lost * the number of users recovering from this mess.

  • Let me rephrase that: "We are so incompetent that there is a chance - meaning that we are not entirely sure of that... we cannot reproduce it but it can happen... we say it in that way simply because

I haven’t seen any reports from steam users

Seems to just be an MS Store issue

IIRC there is a warning on the beta opt-in page for MS Store that says this can happen, has been since something similar happened during 2020 testing,

though in 2020 that could happen when leaving the beta, I don’t think it ever happened while being in the beta. If your community folder is not in the default location it should be avoided.

Am I the only one who thinks these instructions to follow with every update are ridiculous. Way too much work. not worth it. MSFS has become like Helicopter flying - one hour of downtime fixing everything after one hour of using the sim.

Or give me fair warning that an update is coming - and allow me to choose to install or not for the time being

That's realism!  😀

But seriously,  those instructions looks like they are targeted at just about every tweaking scenario.    For me, there's only a few that are relevant.

Count me in as another one getting rolled with the Microsoft hard version.

The last update wiped out my user. cfg. I just copied my backup back and I got everything back. I keep my community folder on a separate drive, which wasn't affected. Why they insist on wiping out user settings is a mistry to me.
