Some help on autopilots in FSX please?

Recommended Posts

Guest twsimfan

Hi guys,In earlier versions of FS there used to be a line we could insert to or remove from the aircraft.cfg file ... don't remember for sure which... that would allow you to turn when you had the autopilot on for altitude hold. Does anybody remember what that fix was and do you know if that will work in FSX? And if not is there a similar fix that will work in FSX?Any help greatly appreciated. :)

I just engage and then disengage the heading hold and am able to turn with altitude hold engaged. Everything works as expected after that initial quirk.ArtBiostar TF560-A2+, Athlon 64X2-6000+, 4GB RAM, Geforce 8800GTS-320MB, 500W PSU, 250GB HD, FSX (SP1-SP2), Vista Home Premium 32 bit, CH Yoke & Pedals, 22" WS LCD monitor

Most Ga aircraft autopilot's work this way. Turning on the autopilot turns on a basic wing leveler. The normal procedure while having the altitude hold on is using the heading bug with heading mode pressed-not using the yoke. Some autopilots like the stec 50 also have a bank button that will put the plane in a coordinated turn.As far as I know-the same "fix" will work in fsx.http://www.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/1b5baf...b9f427f694g.jpgMy blog:http://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/

Thanks for the background on autopilots. :)"As far as I know-the same "fix" will work in fsx."That is good to know but do you remember the code? I don't.

"Maybe this?Add the following lines to the Autopilot section of each aircraft's CFG file that you want to behave this way.use_no_default_bank=1 use_no_default_pitch=1"Well sir that sure looked familiar and when tried it did the trick! :)Thanks again.

Well, you could simply press Ctrl-V as that is the default key-combo to engage/disengage the "wing leveler..."Of course, one would only know that if they had looked at the kneeboard's key assignments card, or perhaps checked the Learning Center... ;)
