FS24 isn't doing well on Steam. Neither is FS20.

Nah, no different than the largest number of complaints about Porsche will be made by Porsche owners and the largest number of complaints against BMW is their drivers don't know how to use turn signals or park 😂

Er, people who are interested in flight simulation and the prospect of continued support for our hobby down the years? As usual it will probably turn into another miserable MSFS 2020 vs MSFS 2024

This is why I don't really use it. Who cares if the physics and ground are so good, when objects are popping in front of you? Or melted buildings and blobs of trees are surrounding an airport. You can

There is Band called Metallica. Metallica made an Album called "Black Album" which sold million of records and made the Heavy Metal music mainstream and popular worldwide. Guess which fans started to moan and spread toxicity after their success : the Metal Community.

Well, sure.

Still, the OP said something ridiculous now all this nonsense is happening.

It's not propaganda when items being discussed are true! How else would you explain all the negative/mixed reviews on steam? Are the 12,000+ (55% negative) reviews on steam, are they all from Xplane riders spreading bogus info?

I am really sorry but i don't have any issue so far from MSFS2024. Actually i have the best smooth performance so far with all my hardware working perfectly ( cpu + gpu ) and enjoying my flight routes with out a single ctd. There are bugs, and they will fix them as they did from the beginning of MSFS.

It is really too bad we cannot discuss anything without things getting heated. We have three simulators. There are valid reasons to like each of them over the others. In my opinion FS24 has the most potential, but it needs a ton of work. Maybe Asobo will discover the lost art of quality assurance, but we may all die before that happens. MSFS is the most well rounded, but support for it will eventually end, so i can see it going bye bye at some point. XP12 is the long shot. They are making progress but you won’t confuse them with MSFS. Basically LR is just waiting for Microsoft to “MS Flight” us, and then they are back in business. I may be cynical.

7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro

I think like any hobby some people let it take over their identity.
Personally I've left XP back in 2021 - used both sims until eventually MSFS became more mature and had the planes I wanted to fly.
Fully bought into MSFS 20 and 24 as the next generation of flight sims that feels more big budget, more accessible as a whole.
And before people take that out of context - I mean the fact that suddenly we don't have to deal with the same jank we've had to deal with for years.
Config files, cloud replacements, global sceneries, ortho, etc etc etc.

But I don't feel protective over any of it.
Seeing XP12 succeed and come into its own has been great to see. When the 12.2.0 beta video came out with the new clouds I was cheering. Because having more options, competition between sims is great. The stuff LR is pulling off with a much smaller team is fantastic. At some point who knows, if it keeps going as well as it's doing now maybe eventually I'll ditch 2024 and switch over.

My point is, none of us should be taking any of this personally. But it does seem that way from the way some people get pretty toxic on both sides.

This really shouldnt be surprising.

It's normal for those invested in something to be amongst the most critical of it.

ETA:, this doesnt of course explain the fanboi phenomena (sorry to use that word but its one that everyone understands)

You don't even have to ditch one for the other.  Many people have both, and are enjoying both for different reasons.

It's sad to see that you have to add a disclaimer for the sake of a few people in here.

That’s exactly what I do. Both sims have their pros and cons.

Speaking of cons: my current issue with MSFS 2024 is that I’m never quite sure if I’ll be able to start a flight. With XP12, on the other hand, I’m never quite sure if I’ll be able to finish it. 😀

What about the  sarcastic-ironic- ego - attitude of the main head of X-Plane? Is this a good example for  flight sim users?

for example:

I hope you don't mind me discussing X-Plane here in the MSFS forums; I’m doing so simply to address your question.

I'm not entirely sure which part you are referring to, but if it is the humorous comment about "Was there a flight sim in 1995…", I interpreted it positively. He followed up by explaining that Microsoft has released new versions of its flight simulator every few years.

If you're familiar with Austin's background, you'd know this was meant to be light-hearted, as he had expressed dissatisfaction with the flight simulators available back then, prompting him to create X-Plane for personal use. Initially, the first few versions of X-Plane were intended only for personal use and for friends.

I wonder if you're aware of Austin's charitable endeavors, such as the Ava Lane Meyer Foundation named after his daughter, or his generous donation of four electric school buses to different schools.  Or his $5 million donation to a pet adoption center he was passing, that was under threat of closing down.  He asked the manager of the center how much they needed to stay open.  He took out his cheque book and wrote a cheque for $5 million on the spot.

One significant contribution was his legal battle against the patent trolls at Uniloc. I encourage you to look into it. He even funded a documentary about the case. The victory set a precedent that benefitted not only MSFS through its cloud server and other games but also fostered innovation without the looming threat of patent infringement lawsuits.

In my interactions with him, I haven't found him to be an ego-driven or sarcastic individual. Instead, he is one of the nicest people I’ve met, always courteous and respectful, even before he knew who I was. Regardless of our acquaintance at the recent expo, his demeanor remained unchanged.
