FS24 isn't doing well on Steam. Neither is FS20.

Even that i admire the work of Goran ( as i was an ex- X-Plane user for many years ) i dont think is nice to come on MSFS forums and preach that we have a SIM that likes to be just nice ( the old myth of Arcade - gaming scenario) opposed the MEGA science Study level Realistic X-Plane which i personally don't use it anymore.

and if i am going to use it, i will comment on X-Plane Forums , not here. Toxicity has many forms and the most dangerous is the indirect with characteristics that diminish the other.

Er, people who are interested in flight simulation and the prospect of continued support for our hobby down the years? As usual it will probably turn into another miserable MSFS 2020 vs MSFS 2024

This is why I don't really use it. Who cares if the physics and ground are so good, when objects are popping in front of you? Or melted buildings and blobs of trees are surrounding an airport. You can

Overall, it’s my opinion that MSFS looks very good. The color saturation is a bit overdone for my tastes, and there are a few other issues, but overall, it’s a very good flight sim. In saying that, am I doing anything differently to people who criticize x-plane?  I think I’m being very fair and objective in my opinion. People can disagree with it, and that’s perfectly fine.

I think some of you guys like GoranM and lwt1971  should take this personal stuff to DM as I can see this thread closing soon but that is probably the objective here.

Check how many users are not using MSFS24 from all this negative propaganda and comparative discussion between the same sim ( 20-24 league ) + now the "new clouds" Sim.

Haha and there you go, calling it the new clouds sim. Another one who can’t have an objective discussion. Goodbye.

also those comparative discussions between Flight Simulators they lead always to false rumors.

Just check on social media and you tube the great Myth of " MSFS is just an arcade game , X-Plane is study level simulation which by far is a great lie and disinformation. And that posts comes also from young new users with zero knowledge of flight simulator gaming. They just reproduce the rumors of the "Real" pilots.

so your point is, the metrics from the primary two places you can buy MSFS are not representitive of it's popularity?

it's a hot take for sure

I don't at all believe Game Pass is the primary way MSFS is purchased. Game Pass is a subscription membership plan to Xbox gaming. Game Pass would be the very definition of skewed results for similar reasons to Steam (i.e., most buyers of Game Pass & Steam are interested in access to a fairly broad variety of games).

I do stand to be corrected, so if you've got some actual market data to support your assertions outside of Steam, PLEASE DO share.

p.s.: let's not forget that even Steam is only showing Concurrent Use - which is in and of itself a skewed metric when it comes to assertions such as you're making.

The trend is your friend. Navigraph survey now supports what we are seeing on steam. And let’s be clear, the navigraph survey included our console friends too.

Please explain how the results are a "trend" similar to what we are seeing on Steam...?

The only trend, and that one must be inferred from the data presented, is that MSFS has become even more popular vs other flight sims than it was last year.

Definitely not encouraging to see a successor do worse than the predecessor.  I do hope 2024's popularity increases to surpass 2020 numbers.

Please don't let the first glance data distract you. There simply hasn't been time for 2024 to establish dominance over 2020 (2024 was only a few months old as of this data set, with significant technical delivery issues).

For e.g., if you just compare within this same snapshot, we'd have to question why nearly a third of X-Plane users still haven't jumped to v12. I bet if we dug into that, and/or normalized for the same time-elapsed-since-release date, we'd find similar numbers to the v2020/v2024 situation. I.e., it's not because v12 isn't a better simulator than v11, or that v12 isn't "succeeding" (i'm sure you have MUCH better data on that kind of stuff 😉 ).

A "fascinating" but unsurprising reply for someone who purports to have facts in abundance.

It's not propaganda when items being discussed are true! How else would you explain all the negative/mixed reviews on steam? Are the 12,000+ (55% negative) reviews on steam, are they all from Xplane riders spreading bogus info?

Yes.

And the surprising thing is that most of the MSFS bashing is by...MSFS users!

It really is sad.
