Hi Hervé, A reduction is to be expected. We’re probably down to a hard core now who will still fly P3D even if they switch over to 2024 occasionally which might or might not be replaced by 2028.

I don´t care about Navigraph Survey, for me P3D is very much alive and it will continue to be on my PC, as well as on several others such as FS2004, FS98. I don't need new addons for P3D, I alrea

I wish LM would come up with something real good to burst this MSFS bubble, but devs already stopped selling for P3D (e.g PMDG, REX) so the question is, would it be enough?

I am patiently waiting to see what happens but at the same time I have XP12 on standby.

system i9 10850K NVidia RTX3090 24GB Samsung SSD980 m.2 1TB (x2) Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD Seagate 2TB external drive Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250GB SSD Asus B460M-PLUS Mobo 32GB GSkill DDR4 3000mhz Ram using P3D v5.3

My guess it's used as a development platform for commercial products. In essence, until they cease using it, it'll be released to the public every iteration.

I also  think each new version will introduce breaking of existing aircraft, scenery etc.

As long as I can get real time weather V6 works for me.

Parenthetically - I play an online game that averages 2k players per day, very low. As a result, many people bemon the imminent  death of the game.
The kicker - it's been running since 2008 and prior to that it was a HL mod. Same numbers have played since day one.

Based on what I've seen in videos and read on the MSFS forum here, the only thing that MSFS has that is better than P3Dv5-6 is the satellite scenery and (mostly)accurately placed scenery objects like buildings and vegetation, and the sloping runways.  I see nothing else that is better, not the planes, not the sounds, not the AI traffic, not the ATC, not the weather.  In fact, I read all the time about relatively poor performance, which can get better or worse with each forced update, not to mention some things being broken and others fixed with these same updates.

P3Dv6 is the best sim I've ever had and performance is fantastic - almost no stutters and smooth at 35fps.  The only thing lacking is better, more realistic scenery, which I must admit MSFS *does* have.

I have no doubt that LM know how to implement the streaming scenery and imagery-based object rendering.  If they were willing to implement this type of scenery in a future version, and maintain the existing planes, sounds, gauges, weather, AI traffic, and ATC, it would be a game changer.

This why I am seriously considering quitting AVsim. It`s gone from a self-help forum to a sim bashing forum and I see less and less reason to stay. I can read more helpful information in other forums.

It’s not “sim-bashing” - it’s an opinion of a member. If it was posted in the MSFS there would be complaints. But this is the P3D forum where comparisons are reasonable when the poster had explained why he’s happy with P3D.

Perhaps you should express a favoured sim in your signature so we know what you prefer.

Prepar3D remains a fine simulator, but let's not delude ourselves on its merits relative to the other sims.

P3D carries on being developed due to LM's continuing support of com/mil contracts and all the features that those types of institutional users need. For the consumer users like most of us, it's either a Sunk Costs proposition (and nothing wrong with that!), or a use case for addons that don't yet exist at an equivalent level of fidelity in the other sims (for me, those are the MilViz T-38A & C, the A2A Civ Mustang, and the PMDG 747's).

LM has stated that they're already developing their next generation flight sim, and that P3D is only being developed with an eye to COMPATIBILITY with existing systems, not the types of new features we consumers would like to see.

So let's not hold on hoping that P3D v7 or v8 is going to be some type of radical upgrade to the sim that somehow retains/returns compatibility with the past stock of addons, AND looks great and...and...and.

Those features are going to be in the OTHER LM flight simulator which will likely have little, if any compatibility with our addon ecosystem. We can only hope they choose to release a consumer version at some point, AND that some enterprising dev team will bring an addon or two over from the com/mil side (kinda like MilViz did...).

I wasn't "sim bashing".  I've stated before that eventually I'll probably switch to MSFS if P3D doesn't get any better.

This topic is about P3D being an end of life sim, and my point is that P3Dv5-6 is actually very good and simply lacks better scenery IMO, so its "life" doesn't have to end.  I also opined that based on what I've seen and read about, its main competitor isn't all that much better except for the scenery.

I hope that P3D will significantly improve with future versions, otherwise it will eventually reach the end of it's life for all intents and purposes.  Of course, there will still be folks using it 10 years from now, just as there are still folks who use FS2004.

P3D is at the end of it`s life on AVsim forum no reason for me to stick around, I have done 73 hours in other sim and it`s not for me. I will buy the next P3D but happy in my hobby with P3DV6.

And I still do some flying in V5. But to be honest I don`t use the sim as often as I used to as I have other hobby`s now.

For those like me who are very happy with P3D but looked for a scenery upgrade, consider a combination of P3D  + FC Scenery.

Looks like the forum is unavailable. I sent an email to the enquiries email address at LM to see if the forum is going to be brought back online.

I’m curious about the FC Scenery but have a few questions.

1) What size is each package? No mention of that.

2) How does it interact with ORBX FTX Global?

3) Is it as detailed at ORBX True Earth? I have the 3 packages for GB.
