Ships & Boats In MSFS 2024

I'm seeing GAIST ships in the beta. Running Sea traffic to ultra, with traffic settings set to AI Offline

Unrelated to GAIST, but one of the Gaya fishing boats used by Live Traffic is modelled off the Northwestern from Deadliest Catch

Are you saying Aircraft Traffic Type setting is set to AI offline?  Does that actually effect Sea Traffic too?  If so, the reason I might not be seeing any GAIST ships are because I have that off (using BATC for traffic).

  • MS2024 and gaist user here works fine for me. Gaist ship routes folder and Gaist Ultra V6_1 folders in community folder Settings in MSFS2024 Under "General" Sea traffic setting to "OFF"

I really like Seafront in FS24, but at the moment it's only doing specific areas, but they work well. Lee

Yes, that setting effects both air and sea traffic.

If you go into graphics settings and set 'Air Traffic' quality to 'off', it won't spawn any sim created AI aircraft, so you can safely have it on when using any other traffic injector.

I only see a setting for air traffic there - nothing for sea.  Thanks.

Ok, was not aware of this, and I could swear that I have it on off and still see GAIST ships. How is this possible?

Why the hell have they tied air traffic to sea traffic like that?! I have mine set to Real Time Traffic so the ships should be visible....

You won't see GAIST ships with live traffic enabled in SU2.

It is in one of the beta patch notes so it should be in the final notes.

Hopefully it's something GAIST can adjust, another nonsensical change by the kings of nonsensical changes!

It makes sense, why would you want offline traffic when you have live traffic enabled?

It working before sounds like a bug to me.

What we should be doing is making a Wishlist thread asking them to split the Air and Sea Live traffic settings.

Edit: I made one, but it's currently sitting in the approval queue

The author(s) of GAIST have not responded publicly (to my knowledge) to anything about GAIST since 2024 came out nearly 6 months ago. So, we have no idea where they stand on any future modifications or upgrades to GAIST at this time or in the future.

It may be that with real time shipping supposedly a new feature of 2024, they no longer felt there would be a need for GAIST in 2024, just 2020. Unfortunately as we all know, real time shipping does not work properly in 2024, mostly I think because of the LOD issues with actually viewing ships while flying, along with the misplaced models, ships and boats where they don't belong, etc. etc. I am really hoping this will be resolved in SU3, but who knows?

GAIST works in 2024. I use it along with ship traffic set to HIGH in the GENERAL settings tab. In the ONLINE tab, I set real time traffic to AI OFFLINE. This gives me GAIST shipping along with AI generated boats, sailboats, etc. from 2024. Of course this means that I only see static aircraft at any and all airports I frequent, but I'm OK with that. For those who like to use real time aircraft traffic and turn that on, it means you will not see GAIST ships as far as I know because of the way the sim is currently set up.

Hopefully this will all change with SU3. We'll see....

Yes I was referring to the weird way they've tied live air to live sea, they need to be separated so we have the option of choosing both, or one or the other for live, which is painfully obvious to me at least but hey Asobo...

There was a guy, supposedly called Jorg, who onced said as an answer on the question why they did not include seasons into MSFS2020 that they dont do half-baked solutions. Impressive how many times he got proven wrong since then... add the ship traffic to the endless list of half-baked things then...
