Horizon Simulations Releases Their 787-9 For MSFS 2024

Featured Replies

Howdy.  Just posted on Horizon Simulation’s discord. Their renowned and well loved 787-9 is now available for MSFS 2024.  Details below.

EDIT:  If you download via Orbx make sure you also download and install the accompanying Livery Package, “Hues By Horizon”

Edit 2  Horizon has issued a hot fix.  Details below:

Hey @everyone,

A Small patch, v1.2.3, of the B789 is now live on ORBX Central and the Headwind installer featuring:

# HS B787-9 v1.2.3 Changelog:
- Fixed the MLG Contact point, causing the MLG to not retract or the aircraft sit level.

Apologies for those who have updated and now need to do it again, but I thought the sooner I update, the less of you troubled by this bug

Hey @everyone,

It's been a while hasn't it? Over the last few months I've had a career change into cabin crew so everything else has been on the back burner. This week marks the first time I've been back into MSFS development in nearly four months - and safe to say, it's been a productive return myself at HorizonSim.

Today, we’re diving into the incredibly advanced world of MSFS2024. We've been getting questions almost daily about compatibility, and we’re happy to confirm as of now: compatibility and support is officially being provided.

v1.2.2, of the B789 is now live on ORBX Central and the Headwind installer featuring:

# HS B787-9 v1.2.2 Changelog:
- Fixed the speedbrakes on landing causing the aircraft to have some "Unexpected Results"
- Added HorizonSim System Modifications into MSFS2024
-# This update will only affect MSFS2024 users and MSFS2020 users don't have to update, but it is recommended. Don't forget to uninstall and reinstall from fresh!

*Don't forget, if you're using our B787-9 on MSFS2024 you need to install the MSFS2020 B787-10 via:  Marketplace -> My Library -> Search for "787" -> Click the "MSFS 2020 Premium" **or** "MSFS Premium Deluxe Upgrade" -> Then Click Enable*

As for our MSFS2024 release plan - we’re taking a similar approach to others in the community. The aircraft will remain functional in both sims, with a native MSFS2024 version coming after V2. This approach helps us maintain the largest possible user base and makes life easier for the incredibly talented painters at Hues, who’ll only need to export liveries once.

Speaking of V2 - if you missed it earlier, here’s a glimpse at the reworked tail and a small showcase of the countless hours DeathActual has poured into the 787s over the last two years. We know you're excited for V2 - and with each day, we’re getting closer. That said, it’s still a little while away. We want to make sure we get it right the first time.

Ok, this seems to be a freeware mod of the existing Asobo 787-1000, right? Do you have to own the Premium Deluxe version of MSFS or is it sufficient to own the 787-1000?

And: what exactly does this mod add to the experience?

Ya would like to know the main enhancements they have done to the default 787 in 2024 too. From what I understood they take the default 787-10 aircraft and do the changes for the -9 variant. I guess what they call out as "Enhancements" in https://flightsim.to/file/62815/horizon-simulations-boeing-787-9 are the improvements above and beyond the modifications for the -9 variant right?

Hmm, I installed the main aircraft files, plus the Hues liveries and verified that my N787-10 is enabled in the sim but I'm still getting the dreaded pink square pattern on the wings and wheels.

Also verified it's version 1.2.3

Any ideas what I might be overlooking?

You have to install B787 2020 version. The 2024 version will be automatically disabled then.

I'm confused.

This is for MSFS 2024. I installed version 1.2.3 from the Orbx Central. It's confirmed that the installation is in both my MS 20202 and 2024.

So far as I can tell, it's the same file for both sims.

If you use FS2024, the Asobo B787, you have installed is 2024 version. You need to do this :

Don't forget, if you're using our B787-9 on MSFS2024 you need to install the MSFS2020 B787-10 via:  Marketplace -> My Library -> Search for "787" -> Click the "MSFS 2020 Premium" **or** "MSFS Premium Deluxe Upgrade" -> Then Click Enable*

I finally sorted it out because the install process was confusing. I had the dreaded pink and no cockpit. Also installed the liveries. Both from Orbx site.

Now that it is properly installed I had a crash within 2 minutes.

See the post directly below your post.  Those are the instructions that accompany the plane.  The value of the Horizons 789  is first, it is a smaller variant. Most Vatsim flyers choose the 9 is what I hear.  Secondly and more importantly the Horizon 9 leverages the 2020 787’s WT direct Simbrief import INCLUDING W&B.  I myself much prefer this over the new 2024 “EFB” which remains to this day far less effective for correct loading of PAX,  Fuel, Cargo and most importantly, W&B.

My 2 cents.  YMMV. TANSTAAFL.

Could be a random CTD.  I took it up on two flights yesterday, one about one hour, the other five.  Both flights were nominal.  Give it another go and good luck,
