May 18, 20251 yr Now after SU2 release have they fixed what was broken ? Or to put it in another way. If doing flights in MSFS2024 will I not encounter more problems than doing the same flight in MSFS2020 ? I am thinking about VR which I use ? Also I don't expect a perfect Sim but refer to more serious problems
May 18, 20251 yr Yes, i think its a good time to try out MSFS2024, you can buy a xbox game pass to try it out before buying it. But others here will say differently about the overall of MSFS2024...the VR aspect of it has improved since SU1, if your GPU support frame generation, then the performance is even better now. Just make sure you close out any unnecessary programs when you run MSFS, and when you have recently updated your graphic driver, always use DDU to clean install.

Yes, i usually close web browsers as well, i only have AutoFPS, GPUz for monitoring and thats it....i can disable Anti virus as well, but yeah, i only leave what is needed running in the task bar

May 18, 20251 yr Yes. I was very and vocally critical of MSFS 2024, be it about the pure existance of a new MSFS or about the disaster of a release or about the lack of actual progress in many areas compared to MSFS 2020. But it has stabilized rather quickly and it's my go to sim now (still having 2020 for the PMDG/iFly 737 flights). Personally it's well worth it for: 1) Performance. Performance is 20-30% better on my system than with MSFS 2020, which is huge. EXCEPT for when it runs out of VRAM, which unfortunately happens too much at the moment. 2) Lighting and ambience is much better than with 2020. The colors of 2020 look cartoonish compared to 2024. 3) Weather is significantly improved, and there's also 24h historical weather now. With 2020 I had to use ActiveSky because of the predictable clouds and no historical weather. That's much improved with 2024. 4) I can't say exactly why, but the ground looks MUCH better in 2024. It's definitely to do with the trees and colors of various objects and satellites, maybe also with the lighting. I fly airliners only, but the difference during departure and approach or during taxi is enormous. 5) The EFB. The EFB now has all info I need for my flights: Simbrief OFP, METARs (even historical), LIDO charts. On 2020 I always had to use my iPad. May 18, 20251 yr No, MSFS 2024 is not ready, not even close (SU2). It has promise, but it's got a long way to go. I posted here some of the issues, there are many more: I blew thru 16GB VRAM (got the VRAM memory warning message) on my 9070XT on High setting (3440 x 1440) when increasing LOD in Portland area (all default, no add-ons). There are 3rd party fixes for the some of the Wall Bridges in MSFS 2020, haven't tried them in 2024 yet. I'd recommend you wait unless you fly in remote areas away from Bridges and larger cities.

That's not true, If you want to fly in highly populated areas 2024 works fine. If you want to nit-pick every little problem then stay away from flight sim altogether. 2024 last city update pretty much transformed San Francisco Bay area to almost picture perfect.2020 still have bugs (will not shut down properly). May 18, 20251 yr It's much better than it was. I'm enjoying the PMDG 777 in 2024. But as others have said, don't delete 2020. I like 2024 but I don't personally see any point in it, other than generating a bit more money to keep the developers committed to sim development, which I'm more than happy to do. People keep going on about the much better visuals but I think that's just placebo effect; they look the same as 2020 to me. The image quality is better in 2020 using the same display settings. Performance seems better in 2024, but that might just be placebo on my part. Nevertheless, it's much more stable now. Give it a go, but don't get rid of 2020 for a good while. A
