T-Mobile 5G Internet for MSFS 2020/2024 purposes

Comcast has become hugely expensive here in the US, so I'm thinking about dropping the cable completely and try 5G Home Internet from T-Mobile. MSFS2020 and MSFS2024 are my primary concerns here, so you have MSFS experience with this service , I would really appreciate your opinion.

Thank you!

Are you able to get Verizon / Frontier fiber? Starts at like $30/mo...

  • Comcast is offering a new service called "Now".  Price for 200 MBS down is $45 a month with unlimited data. No contract and a free modem and router. https://www.xfinity.com/now/internet

Until two weeks ago, I worked for the 2nd largest cable co, so some questions here 1. Does the 5G connection have a "soft" cap? Similar to cell data, we used to throttle our 5G/LTE SMB solutions

Until two weeks ago, I worked for the 2nd largest cable co, so some questions here

1. Does the 5G connection have a "soft" cap? Similar to cell data, we used to throttle our 5G/LTE SMB solutions after they used too much data. This wasn't put on the promotional documents (lol), but you could find it in the T&Cs.
2. Tried Comcast retention? Too expensive? If you have cable TV or home phone - DROP IT. In my job before the cable co, I used to do bill audits, etc. for SMB prospects - nearly 50% of the ones complaining about cost were able to save huge on phone/TV spend.
3. Is there a telco available? AT&T, CenturyLink, Verizon, Windstream, etc.? Depending on your area they might have fiber, but if it's rural etc. it would probably be DSL. DSL isn't ideal for anything due to jitter, and I'm not sure all of them still sell it to residential customers. But - if fiber is available, it's almost certainly going to be lower than Comcast.

Looks like there's a restriction here - this is really generous, typically the policy is "you're already a customer," but yes, OP could strip any other services off and would be eligible for this:

Also, please note NOW Internet is not available for customers who:

  • Subscribe to other Xfinity services (except Xfinity Mobile).
    • If you want to downgrade from Xfinity Internet to NOW Internet, you’ll need to remove all other Xfinity services (except Xfinity Mobile).

comcast is a scam...if you go over 1TB of data...which is easy to do using this sim...it's $10/100GB on top. Is comcast your only option in your area? Go with some kind of fiber if you can.

We are getting fiber where I live (infrastructure being installed) and I'm wondering if it would be superior to my current cable setup?  OK for MSFS?

I know it'll be cheaper, they're offering $50/month for 1 year...whereas with cable I have a package and it's been jacked up to $220/month.  Yes.  $220 per month Virginia.  Not worth it, and I rarely watch TV.

 Comcast and Verizon FiOS, that'all.

I'll check NOW, this might be a viable alternative.

Thanks to everyone for responses. Looks like 5G Mobile internet for home is only good to watch YT in 340p and to read news. And yes, weather dependent.

I have read numerous reviews by people that tried it. Biggest complaint is when the 5 G gets busy with Internet Traffic, the download speeds drops quite a bit. If you are on Comcast now, look at the link I posted , Comcast "Now".

For a variety of reasons it will be greatly superior to your coax internet. It was night and day when we started building out FTTP instead of copper - latency will be lower, upload better, speeds generally more consistent but YMMV

Definitely drop the TV. After broadcast fees etc. the rates are exorbitant.

I've been on 100Mbs/12Mbs download/upload speeds with Spectrum for the past 2 years with 2 tv's streaming simultaneously with absolutely no issues.

I don't like Comcast, however, Xfinity (which is sub of comcast I believe and what they call it in my area) does have and unlimited plan with its fastest speeds.  I was on the 1 TB plan and as you pointed out, yes, it sucked as I reached those levels mid month (I work from home so that contributed).  Got weekly texts, "you're over your limit so you owe us more money"

I finally just bit the bullet and went with the unlimited fast speed line which wasn't that bad.

Could be coincidence as I changed around the time MS was updating the sim a lit, but I replaced my old router (which the person on the  phone  laughed at as it was so old), got the new router, was on the new fast unlimited plan, and MSFS has been running exponentially better, so I'm generally happy.,

Only downside is Xfinity/Comcast customer services sucks and they have quite a bit of outages with very little communication to customers.
