AI - User Aircraft distance

Recommended Posts

Hi there I have a question that I have been meaning to post for a rather long time now, and finally am doing so.When ever there is a ai plane behind me, the atc always instructs the ai plane to hold position caution the xxx on the taxi way, and it does this to keep a rather large space between me and the other plane. Im sorry I cant really think of a good way to explain this, so take a look at the picture. I am stopped, the ai plane was instructed to hold position because of me on the taxi way. Take a look at the distance between me and the other plane.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/191252.jpgIs there a way to decrease this or make it how it was like in FS9, which would be the plane would be right behind you. Thanks

That's not universally true. I have seen AI stop pretty close behind me in FSX, too.I do not know what controls the distance. Perhaps it has to do with the blue node positioning (in afcad terminology), or maybe it is something in the .mdl.RhettFS box: E8500 (@ 3.80 ghz), AC Freezer 7 Pro, ASUS P5E3 Premium, BFG 8800GTX 756 (nVidia 169 WHQL), 4gb DDR3 1600 Patriot Cas7 7-7-7-20 (2T), PC Power 750, WD 150gb 10000rpm Raptor, Seagate 500gb, Silverstone TJ09 case, Vista Ultimate 64ASX Client: AMD 3700+ (@ 2.6 ghz), 7800GT

Half the time I'm lucky if ATC issues holds to anyone, me included, when traffic is near. I never had that much in FS9, anyone know why the change? It's the same using either stock or modified airports.Regards, Kendall#1: E6750@3.2GHZ/Coolermaster HyperTX2 Gigabyte P35-DS3L 4GB Ballistix Tracers PC6400 EVGA 8800GT - 174.74 beta Seagate 250GB 7200.11 CH Yoke/Pedals/Saitek Throttle Dual Monitor: Dell 2405/1905 #2: Dell 8400 3.2 H.T. 3GB PC4200 - X800XT Diamond Xtreme/Logitech X-530's

I was always under the impression it was the aircraft radius (set in the aircraft.mdl) file) that affects ATC distance calling. The reason I thought this, back when AI collections really got started, we adjusted all the radius of aircraft to fit recommended radius specific parking spots and it seemed to me that it affected ATC calls as well. AI Parking Manager from the PAI forums was a great tool to adjust the aircraft radius for specific parking spaces.
