Really bad screen tear in MSFS 2024

Featured Replies

Just got a new rig with RTX 5090 and using 2024 for the first time.

I'm getting really bad screen tear...how can I stop this?

Thanks

What monitor are you using?

Are you running frame generation?

Show us some pics of your display settings in the sim.

I get it with my 4090 and I recommend turning on v-sync in the Nvidia Control Panel and off in the sim. Works really well and does not affect performance.

As Lee says above.  I have it on in the NV control panel, and off in the sim.

On in the sim causes me terrible screen tearing.
I don't understand it either.  Maybe another bug, as it seems to work opposite to how you would expect, but Vsync on in the sim definitely causes screen tearing for me.

All fine in 2020 with vsync on in sim.  So take your guess!

Haven't ever seen screen tearing in 2024.  RTSS, no FG, rate locked at 50, no vsync.

I've just turned V-sync in the NV control panel from FAST to ON and it seems better.

Here are screenshots of settings:

The best way to establish your optimum settings is to start low and then gradually increase those settings and judge whether your system is performing in a way you're happy with.

At the moment your system is trying to push out 120fps on Ultra settings....

With various simulators I've encountered screen tearing issues at times and it always comes down to V Sync.  Sometimes I've had to turn it on in the simulator and of in the NCP and with others, it's been the other way around.  In some cases I've needed it on in both.

With FS24 as things stand, I need to have it off in the sim and on in the NCP to work properly.

Just as an aside, I use AutoFPS and the framegen mod and you must also have HAGS on to make autoFPS work.

Thanks. I've got my system set to 60fps...or am I wrong?

V-Sync is a bit primitive for a 5090... does your monitor not support variable frame rate (G-Sync)?

If not, you should buy one with a high refresh rate to cope with your 5090.
