Oh you have a message. Should be, "do not use this if you have no clue what it does", Which is mostly the case. Still have no idea why people need to tweak, at least it keeps this forum busy.

We all have different thresholds for graphical glitches that irritate us in flightsims.  Laminar cant be expected to have everything in XP perfect, so if a 'tweak' is available to mitigate a glitch, why would that be of concern for you if others try it?

The tree shimmering in XP12 is awful, yet I can overlook that because XP12 gives me an overall better experience than MSFS. However, if a tweak was available to stop that shimmering before Laminar get around to it, what is the problem?

What are you talking about, and what is your issue!? I simply posted a post I found over reddit and thought some of the more experienced users might want to give it a try. My word!

This is EXACTLY the problem. If only more experienced users would try it - fine. But as LR found out with ReShade, not only experienced users would try it, and then the masses would flood the support department with bug reports and requests for help...not realizing that they brought this upon themselves, or - even worse - demanding that LR would "fix their sim" so that it would run with reshade, because certainly one can not fly without it!

There are stern warnings to not mess with private art controls and if support load increases again because people do and then come crying...Daddy will take the toys away.

No I didn't, you didn't explain to me why you felt it necessary to have a pop. Completely unheeded. Go harass someone else.  Your tone is that of a headteacher talking to his 12 year old pupils.

No one is messing with private art controls. And if they are, like you say, that's their issue not yours. 'Daddy will take the toys away', really? Could you be any more condescending? If people want to fly with reshade, and in turn break their sim; what business is it of yours? I am pretty sure if Laminar have a problem they can handle it themselves, they don't need you as their spokesperson 🙂

Anyone running reshade that reports an issue will more than likely be ignored by L/R! Just one of the reasons one needs to include a log file! The log file will tell them instantly they are using a non-default setup.

Going by that response, no one would ever purchase their first copy of X-Plane, since they would have no clue coming from P3D/FSX. This is especially true prior to their MAJOR GUI update.

So...technically, reshade plugs directly into the GPU shader pipeline so it's effectively worse than tweaking art control datarefs. It's the boss level of the tweakable art controls. And the most guilty of causing CTDs. Sufficiently guilty and popular that, as you know, LR gave it its own command line argument to force enable. I think it's pretty cool that they figured out motion vectors though.

He really should have "commercial member" or some indicator that he does indeed directly work/interact (contracts?) with LR. This one's a snake-in-the-grass situation for sure.

Friendly reminder: WHITELIST AVSIM IN YOUR AD-BLOCKER. Especially if you're on a modern CPU that can run a flight simulator well. These web servers aren't free...

Who should and who is?

It's only worse if one has issues. I've tweaked art controls, windows 11, edited XP12 night lighting, removed airport and roadway vehicles, added parked vehicles throughout X-Plane's roadways so the roads aren't all empty and I also use reshade without issue.

I think people should have more faith in the stability of XP12, even in its beta stage.
