Black Square Starship is out now

Yea, it was a real money loser. I think Beechcraft sold only a dozen or so in the first three years of production; only 53 were every built and I think there are 6 currently airworthy.

The Starship was a disaster for Raytheon. Here is a great article describing why it was a complete failure:

You are right the "buzz" around good products fades very quickly, mainly because when you have no complain, why should you waste time to express your satisfaction! I bought it on day one and flew

Props to Nick for another amazing aircraft. What he can do mostly alone is amazing.

Not usually for me .. but so was the Comanche. Will be picking this up over the weekend. I want to fly something into smaller regional airports and i think this will do nicely. The procedures involved looks a touch daunting though i have to admit.

I'm no expert, but I've read it (intentionally) operates in a manner very similar to a Beech King Air. IIRC, Beech intended for it to actually replace the KA 😮

The flying part seems quite straight forward, too, with a few caveats.

But if you can handle the other BS turbines, you can probably handle this one, too 👍

Bravo, bravo, bravo! 🙏

What a great aircraft, one of the best releases of the year. So unique and great flying, sounds and ground handling.

Congratulations Black Square!

Oh God, I'm tempted...still on the fence.

I've bought every BS aircraft that has come out, and I don't regret it a bit; however, this one in particular is just not my type...but oh man, so tempting.

Nice article by Mac McClellan, I loved reading his stories in Flying back in the day.  Seems possible Nick is going to make a better profit on the Starship than Beech did 🙂

Nice job Nick, this one looks like another great BS aircraft

Got it. Broke my rule and RTFM, or at least enough to find out how to turn off all the failures. Then a quick buzz out of KSFO around a rather fine looking Bay Area - nice bit of mist but plenty of sunshine too.

Mostly I love the look of it, but the rear end does take a bit of getting used to. Nice to know I've got a rudder though if I end up afloat in it. Wish I could do repaints, this would look great in something a bit more arty/graphic than the usual realism, but I don't have the patience to learn the techniques. But if anyone fancies doing a Royal Navy Blue to Midnight blue fade with a liberal sprinkling of silver/chrome stars I'll take it!

Glad I got it, a fine beast.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

if you have brought every one of the BS aircraft, then this one has to be one of your types.   This is comparable to the King Air and Duke.

Wow, What a beautiful plane.

I intended just to familiarize myself a bit with the cockpit tonight....but of course ended up putting it at the end of the runways for a flight. Hand flys very nicely, while also giving the feeling that I have a good amount to learn.

The cockpit is just incredible in VR.  Folks, we're talking fingerprints on the instrument glass level immersion.

What a fantastic aircraft. Enjoying the learning curve but everything working out the. Ox so far as I can tell. A masterpiece! Well done Blacksquare!

After couple flights I have a mixed feelings. It's a very amazing aircraft, but also very awkward as well! LOL I have an issue with entering flight plan. Some of my waypoints are getting over overwritten or disappear. I'm not sure  if do something wrong or it just a limitation.

Approach section is not getting auto sequenced , not sure why. There are some heavy frame rate issue in bigger airport that I have't seen since 2020. There is no dedicated view for GPS . I believe GNS430  is custom made but missing function for load approach and only gives activate approach. I do like preload stuff a lot LOL

I bought it within seconds of it being released and was flying it within the hour. I didn't have much time to test but that first evening I struggled a bit and wondered if I had made a mistake. Today was the first time I could sit down and test it properly and I am blown away. A lot to learn and still to find but I flew with my headphones on today and when I tapped one of the gauges with my cursor by mistake and heard the 'clink' and saw the needle twitch just a little, I knew I had made the right choice. Really looks like a masterpiece to me.

I did another flight. Seems like this time waypoints lineup correctly without any problem. I use "plan map" on MFD while enertying waypoint. Not sure if it made any difference but everything is butter now!
