Honeycomb Alpha Yoke & Garmin Screens in GA Aircraft

Featured Replies

Hi, I hope someone can help here.

I have an Alienware M18 R2 Laptop with Nvidia RTX 4090, Intel i9-14900HX running Win 11.

I have a Honeycomb alpha yoke and Honeycomb beta throttle setup.

I am running the latest X-Plane 12 version.

When I load any GA aircraft that has a Garmin 430, 530, 1000 screen, they appear blank with nothing displayed.

As soon as I unplug the Honeycomb Alpha yoke USB, the screen comes to life. When I plug the USB in again, the screen goes blank.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Mel.

I've had the same issue, but I never thought of unplugging my yoke. Interesting...

but unfortunately not a practical cure as one kinda needs the yoke. 😁

Looking forward to seeing what other people came up with!

What happens when you press the power button on the dark screen? When I fire up the cessna the second panel is dark most of the time and I have to power it on.

Are both master switches and both avionics bus switches on, on the Alpha? Are both mags on? Latest drivers?

when i press the power button on the dark screen.....nothing happens.

the second screen on the cessna remains dark even when both master switches and both avionics bus switches are on.

both mags are on and i have latest drivers from honeycomb downloads.

so i am baffled to say the least !

yes unplugging the yoke does bring the screens back to life but then i dont have any controls over the aircraft.

there must be a simple solution to this as it works ok with my logitech Pro Flight Yoke System.

I had a response from someone at x-plane forum who said....

If your started switch is set to Start, set the starter switch on Both.

Switched it to both and everything working fine.

Thank you everyone for your help.

Have you checked the control bindings for the Honeycomb Alpha? Go through all of the button and axis assignments to verify that there isn't some errant binding linked to one of the buttons. You might even want to try creating a new profile for the Honeycomb and just map the axes at first to see if your PFD/GPS displays stay on then. If so, add the remaining button assignments as required.

Additionally, in case the issue is hardware related, you could try connecting the Honeycomb to a different USB port (ideally one that is on a different USB controller on your PC's motherboard. Given that you stated that you're using a laptop, getting a USB port that's on a different USB bus might not be possible.

I asked you if both mags were on!!! "Both" on the starter switch refers to magneto 1 and magneto 2.
