A2A Aerostar releasing in Early Access in July

Ah, so those Steam figures are correct?

I have always thought SteamDB figures give a good picture. Not only for MSFS 2020 vs MSFS 2024, but for the other competition too, for the PC market.

And the SteamDB figures have been consistent with the Navigraph survey too, albeit Navigraph tends to target the more hardcore flightsim users.

Maybe you are mistaking me for someone else?

  • Finally....  it's been quite frustrating with a single A2A product for MSFS. I'm SUPER curious what people here think about early access - well many have disdain for it but since it's A2A maybe e

Great to hear A2A are still alive and kicking! I agree - "Early Access" with a developer like A2A would be hard to resist 😉

  • A2A is a dev I would trust with early access.  Looking forward to this one.

I'm bit disappointed that they decided to go with 2024 version only as there are still thousands of users using MSFS 2020, I understand from development point of view it would have been challenge to develop for two separate sims but from financial point of view - if they also develop for 2020 version then more people would buy it, just think about the potential sales that they might lose from 2020 users. Considering it is A2A they have a strong reputation so even when it comes to releasing early access products, people would still buy it.

There is nothing wrong to have two sims at the same time . After all msfs2024 hdd footprint is super small comparing with 2020

I love twins ... but I'll have to see how this works out before I'll purchase.

I may be being a bit cynical but, when a vendor who in recent years has become known for both slow product development and reluctance to communicate with the community about new products suddenly comes out with an early access release (after a burst of high quality releases by others) so the community can "join them for the final stretch of development." I get an uneasy feeling.

Considering the length of A2A's project development I would at least need to see the timeline, which they say will be coming out "shortly" after the release. (at least they didn't use "soon")

Having too much fun flying Black Square Turbine Duke. I think I will pass on this one.

In the end, I bet you don't. 😉

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

Yeah, I prefer a piston plane. I say that, but I also love the TBM 850. Go figure.

Wish I could enjoy the Piston Duke more, but I don't.

Great plane. Perfect really. I just don't like the plane itself. Personal preference is all.

I am hoping the to put the Cessna 414 out to pasture if the Aerostar turns out like we all hope it will.

Then again, I really love my 414.

When they first teased this project many, many years ago I never thought I'd say this but I'm not exactly hyped about the Aerostar, especially since it'll only be the unpressurized 600. The C414A, Dukes and Baron have filled the piston twin void for me.

I'm sure it will be a great add-on and they have nailed the single engine flight model etc., but at this point I would have been much more excited about their civ P-51D or anything with a radial engine.

You are not cynical, you just state what one can observe. For slow product development and reluctance to communicate with the community about new products, I totally agree with you. We will have to see what they come up with.

FS2024

For those who do not know the Areostar 600 non pressurized, not turbo plane.

Good little video

210 knots cruise / 7500 to 8000 / a little small compared to the Cessna 414. Like most Pipers, view from the cockpit seems limited.

I've not flown in one IRL, but it seems like the visibility is quite good compared to most piston twins due to the wing being so far aft of the pilot's position.

I'd be on this in a  heartbeat, early access or not, if it weren't 2024 only.  A2A is one of the few developers I'd trust with an early access purchase.

At this point, the biggest thing keeping me from at least starting to use '24 is my 8GBs of VRAM, so... bummer.

Apparently there has already been a livestream of it?! https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2497195269

And if I understand it correctly the roadmap will be published after the early access release?

This is all a bit...strange.

Time for an upgrade.  Lots of great GA products almost out (and existing 2020 ports that work fine).
