I just recently decided to try FSX again on a Intel Quad core 2.6 and Nidia 8800 GTX 768. I was hoping that the GPU would be able to handle some of the muscle work instead of the cpu when in the 2X mode double passing.Again thank you.Bill M

The best thing to do is to experiment for yourself, now that you understand the theory from Phil's thorough blog post. Be sure to test in both day and night conditions. Some video drivers will have difficulty with water at night.Jeff ShylukAssistant Managing EditorSenior Staff ReviewerAVSIM

I read Phil Taylor's blog on this and it is excellent, but can someone explain to me in plain English what the last paragraph actually means? "You have to understand FSX and its performance as a Socratic, holistic thing across all the subsystems and how they interact. It

The short answer is No. Nobody can explain it in plain English. I think if you search for "Socratic" and "Aristolean" in the AVSIM search engine (and it doesn't blow up from being asked to search for Greek philosophy), you may find the original thread that discusses this blog entry. In that thread we do our best to understand Phil's supercharged brain. Jeff ShylukAssistant Managing EditorSenior Staff ReviewerAVSIM

What water setting must you have set to see the reflection of your own aircraft in the water?
