Yes, if the digital twin earth were more mature and advanced, such that it looked good from the ground level inside cities

What is a digital twin Earth?  And how is it implemented in a graphics pipeline?

Everything on a computer is digital, so don’t really understand what you’re suggesting?

"Digital Twin" earth is the terminology that Jorg and the MSFS team use, for the 3D world in MSFS.

Still there's a lot to love in 2024.  It's hilarious the same people keep saying negative things anytime something positive is posted.

Well it's more hilarious to believe just because "Jorg" said the game is fully funded for years to come we should believe it!

This product must fulfill a business purpose of generating profits. If that changes or new people come along at Microsoft nothing is certain.

This supposed comment isn't even really worthy of starting a conversation about the future of the game.

Right now I'm enjoying it for what it is and not worrying one bit about what lays way out ahead!

No source. It's common sense, lol.

If you have any business sense at all, and you have actually listened to and read Jorg's interviews, it's obvious.

And if you're a Microsoft executive or the CEO, and you don't recognize the value of the digital twin earth you have right now with MSFS 2024, and the upside of developing it further, you should probably be fired (fortunately, Microsoft does see the value and upside of perfecting their digital earth further).

Whaaaa...Microsoft can develop earth mapping for many other more relevant purposes than a game and probably has other methods to do so.

Flight Simulation is a very, very small part of Microsoft. It was shelved in the past and could be shelved again!

The thing that makes a difference to  MSFS than previous is the in-game store, which brings constant revenue in -  and the missions, tutorials, etc, which give a good path to casual gamers becoming flight simmers.

XBOX subscriptions also opens the door for people to give the sim a go.

We are also seeing more and more hi-fidelity aircraft coming into the store these days, which is also a good boost.

Cheers.

But ... MSFS is the hub of the world - didn't you know? 😄  The digital twin is built around MSFS and the other purposes are only "nice to have" ... 😆.

And you're right, if the next CEO of MS is of the opinion that a racing simulation will bring much more income (and it's a fact/common sense that more people are interested in racing than in aviation) then MSFS will be shelved faster than you can say "shelved". BTW, a "perfect" digital twin of the world (i.e. no melted buildings) would fit even more to a racing simulation. Independant of what some people here are saying/thinking.

Speaking of hub of the World.... whatever happened to MSFS World Hub ?

I believe it’s on the ‘coming soon’ list, whatever their interpretation of soon is.

Stick it alongside working live traffic, or ATC developed by working title. I believe it’s all under the rug somewhere…
