Switched to RX 7900 XT, best settings for MSFS

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I just switched from RTX2080 to RX7900XT and I am little bit lost with Radeon settings in Adrenaline software:

Is there some guide or tips on what to set in Adrenaline that works with MSFS and MSFS2024?

Thank you

You don't say what monitor you have, I have a VRR monitor at 165 Hz 1440p

In 2020, I leave all the AMD stuff off except for Chill to limit frames to 30 when I'm flying an airliner into a busy airport. If you want FG/Scaling, I had the best results with the Lossless Scaling app. I also use AutoFPS.

My experience with 2024 SU2 is not extensive, but once again I leave all the AMD stuff turned off. In the sim I use TAA and FSR3 which is brilliant, so no need for Lossless Scaling. AutoFPS again. I'm waiting for SU3 before I really sink my teeth into 2024 but I reckon I'll struggle to find better settings.

FS2024 • PMDG 738, 77F • FSL A321 • A2A Comanche, Aerostar • BS Baron, Bonanza, Caravan Pro • JF Tomahawk • TAOG H500C
BeyondATC • GSX Pro • ChasePlane & Flow Pro • TDS GTNXi • FSUIPC • AutoFPS • RealTurb

9800X3D B650E • ROG OC RTX 5090 • 64GB DDR5-6000 • VKB Gladiator, STECS, T-Rudder • Tobii 5 • ISP 1 Gbps

For me

Same 165 VRR capable monitor my setup is different.

Leave the global profiles alone

Within the MSFS 2024 profile i aim for 80 frames so

Within the sim menu options (2024) i lock the frames to 40. Then Within the driver game (MSFS2024) profile

I turn on fluid motion frames 2.1 to double the frames (Others use lossless scaling. Others use the in sim Frame generation with TAA) I find using the driver based version gives me the best results with minimal to no artifacts. The in sim frame gen was giving me artifacts on the engine fan blades and that was too obvious for me to keep using.

For the  MSFS 2020 game profile

I lock the frames with Radeon Chill to 45 (Both values upper and lower)

Enable Fluid Motion frames 2.1 to achieve 90 FPS

Does it with Windowed mode? Because I tried it and it only works on the full-screen where it doubles my FPS (I use windowed mode)

Unfortunately i think it does require full screen. (I never run in windowed mode so i completely forgot about it being a requirement).  But you can probably double check to see if the other two frame gen options require full screen (Lossless Scaling or if you are using msfs2024 the in game Frame generation)

I have set in game FSR3 and Fluid Motion 2.1 = I also see the fan blade artifact especially on the PMDG777. So I should turn off FSR3 in game?  If so what setting should I use in MSFS2024?

For MSFS 2024 i use the following

In game (TAA anti aliasing.. I do not use the in game FSR for anything + lock the base frames from within the sim) mine is set to 40 for reference.

Outside of the sim

Radeon Software I enable Fluid Motion Frames 2.1  which doubles the locked 40 frames to 80.

I was getting crazy high framerates so I guess having both enabled doubled and then doubled again.  Definitely had artifacts though on the PMDG engines and on some overhead panel backlights.
