best aismooth settings?

Recommended Posts

Guest delsimflyer

hey, i have been using aismooth for reducing go arounds but am struggling to find the best settings for maximum landings. i have ai to ai distance set to 6nm and time space 120sec but am getting planes landing avg evry 5-6min. planes coming to intercept are put on holding even when the one in front is about to touch down, which means 7nm distance that is. I can see around 20 planes scattered in the holding area.

I find the default settings to be satisfactory. What traffic are you using? I would never reccommend putting most if not all add-on traffic above 60%, unless you like seeing swarms of aircraft. Above a certain level, FSX has a hard time handling too many AI vehicles.Recall that the AI aircraft you see exist in a bubble around your aircraft. Scheduled aircraft outside that bubble are theoretical. AISmooth puts a bubble of an "AI No-Fly Zone" inside the FSX bubble, so you get a kind of doughnut.Mmmm... doughnut...Anyways, that many aircraft in that small of a space do tend to get all jammed up. If you reduce your slider, you'll see fewer clusters of aircraft.Jeff ShylukAssistant Managing EditorSenior Staff ReviewerAVSIM

Also, depending on the airport, you can help aismooth and FSX out by getting a good "crosswind runway" AFCAD file for the airport. This will open up more runways for landings and takeoffs, and higher traffic settings will flow more smoothly (you'll still get some funny results sometimes, but generally it smooths things out).Do a search in the file library for "crosswind runways" and you should get a list of AFCADs designed for this. A further search then using the listed author's names will yeild lots of them.FalconAF
