To cache or not to cache - that is the question?

AFAIK, "caching" only benefits those who've not installed all the scenery on their hard drive. IOW, they've chosen to perform a "lite" installation.

Do we even support not installing all the scenery data on the HDD in Setup anymore (I don't generally run setup, I build from source :-> )? The caching for CDROM data was added back in FS5 days, didn't realize any of it was still in there (although I imagine its been rewritten a time or two since then).

All your responses concur with what was my own understanding. However, this does not explain why the authors of the Project Canarias XConverter specifically recommend "caching this scenery" to avoid blurries.Could either the authors of Project Canarias or someone from ACES please clarify this point once and for all.Cheers,Stuart

Not related to the caching, but I imorted the Project Canarias to FSX and the mountains are magnificent. La Palma looks pretty good too but I had a couple of problems with it. When starting up there I always had a CTD and found the culprit file was
